Old GOGers will remember the times when GOG mentioned the 5 biggest publishers not on GOG and explained their efforts for bringing them on board. From those big 5, only one still remains: Microsoft. I was wondering which publishers you think are the remaining four? Please consider the classic PC games when naming the publishers :)

My list would probably be

2. Blizzard (Diablo, Warcraft, The Lost Vikings, Starcraft)
3. SEGA (Total War series, Football Manager etc)
4. Sony (Psygnosis games: Lemmings, Ecstatica, Metal Fatigue, Novastorm, Rollcage, Destruction Derby, Drakan...)
5. Valve (another obvious one, more unlikely to ever happen)

extra: Bandai Namco (Dark Souls series would probably suffice to justify)

Post edited to add Sony

Is Valve a big publisher? Aren't they more concentrated on running their Steam service now, and maybe releasing some (free-to-play) online games (tied to Steam of course)? I recall e.g. reading the article why it doesn't make sense for Valve to concentrate on making e.g. Half-life 3 anymore:

- they don't need it in order to make money
- it probably brings them more grievance than benefits anyway

Also I'd point out that while GOG "has" EA or Activision, it doesn't seem like they are publishing much more on GOG anymore. So they are more like hibernated. Ubisoft is almost the same, it seems.

I don't know about biggest, but the ones I would most like to see are:

Blizzard (Warcraft 2, 3 and Starcraft, maybe Diablo if I feel brave enough)
Koei (I like Dynasty Warriors.. plus Romance of the Three Kingdoms is great, not sure whether they're a publisher or just a developer though)
Sega (Dawn of War mainly, but Sega have a lot of great stuff that it would be nice to have here)
And I can't think of another one (the other games I'd really like the publishers are here, just not releasing them..)
SEGA and Bandai Namco will probably come around, but I doubt about the blockbusters of Blizzard and anything from Valve.
I really hope we see the old Warcraft 3 + TFT, StarCraft Brood War and Diablo 1/2 here though, I think it would give some life to their communities.
SEGA would be great. I'd love to see the Total War series here. Don't think it's going to happen. Koei would be nice as well (plenty of strategy classics). Capcom. Lots of others. For some reason Japanese companies don't seem to understand gog and the whole DRM-free thing. Who knows, maybe it's just not on their agenda. Is this just a western phenomenon?
1. Sega
2. Konami
3. Capcom
4. Bandai Namco
5. Gearbox :D

timppu: Is Valve a big publisher?
I guess I should have use 5 Most Desired Publishers instead of big :)

But then again, Half Life games would probably sell enough to call Valve a "Big Publisher", in terms of classing gaming :)

Ubisoft released the Anno Series here, the Rayman games etc. I think Ubisoft redeemed themselves lately.

Yeah, that's why I didn't consider Ubisoft quite the same as EA and Activision, it seems they have not completely abandoned GOG, merely become more passive over time. Those releases you mentioned were certainly encouraging, I got them too.

In a way I am surprised EA (and maybe Activision) haven't pulled their existing games from GOG. After all, EA seems to use their GOG releases mostly as freebies to pull people into the EA Origin service. But maybe EA still wants to keep good relationships with GOG, if they still need their help at some point to make some old EA game work on modern machines (so that they can first release it on GOG, and then later as a freebie on EA Origin).

Cynical much? :-/

There's more than enough of a history of EA bullshittery to justify timppu's cynicism. What he said sounds to me like something EA would actually pull as well.

Yep.
Squeenix might actually belong on the list too as it's since been pointed out we only have games from a European subdivision of them, nothing actually from the main publisher.

But at this point, unless a massive corporate restructure happens, I'd actually put Valve as a more likely candidate for GOG than Squeenix.

Also, Sega is too rock stupid and has it's head shoved too far up it's own ass to support GOG, and Bamco is too lazy.

timppu:
They got a fair share of the mutliplayer market with DOTA 2, CS:GO and even TF2 is getting updated still. So I guess they could be counted as an active publisher.

Valve is primarily a developer, not a publisher. In fact, they use other publisher (for example EA) to publish their games. Same can be said about Blizzard, but is it different now as they are owned by Activision.
