when in doubt remove the ram and try and try again

the last ditch attempt is actually nuking your hd and reinstalling windows
Check video crap, directx9 installed, etc.

If you did this, assumed nothing, and still have a problem, capture log of the failure and send/post.

Edit to add: That it ended is a concern, but where it ended is critical.

re installing windows may fix the issue if nothing else so far is working.

How can I send a log if the game does not even start?

I read through the thread, I don't think you said where you installed your games.
How is your PC partitionned, do you put everything on C: ? (do you have a weird setup where your system partition is not even C: ?). You are not running out of physical space I presume ?

I didn't dig at all regarding the error you are getting, but if most of yours softwares work but most gog games don't, the answer shouldn't be complicated.

(A good place to start in those cases is to upgrade all drivers ... motherboard stuff included, IoBit has a software that can do most of the legwork )

I have the same error when i launch gothic
0xc0000005
I have lenovo thinkpad w541
My Solution:
Switch to airplane mode and then launch the game
However if someone can figure out why it works in airplane mode and how to make it work in normal settings i would appreciate it :D
0xc0000005... That error seems most familiar from Diablo 2, specifically the Zy-El mod, as it would always throw that error after the program finished... Course it didn't mean anything and was otherwise unavoidable...
This might seem idiotic, but it appears you're at the point to try anything. I know I can sometimes come across indecipherable errors on older games if I'm trying them out without an audio output, I'd suggest making sure you have speakers or headphones attached and working.

Don't bother troubleshooting. The thread was from 2014-15 and was recently necro'ed by the user (or possibly a bot?) above you. (Post now deleted)

I think there's a good chance they did. ;)
On a brand new PC, even. One that did not have any issue running all their games.

For all we know, OP's computer at the time they started this thread was sent to a junkyard years ago.
