OlausPetrus: I guess the graphics haven't aged that well, but back in '99 this game felt revolutionary. I was very impressed that you could move the camera around and examine the locations yourself.

Also my impression about the graphics was very favorable back then. It's funny how these days people are against aged 3D graphics. While back in the day many people considered these new flashy 3D graphics looked very realistic and better than 2D graphics.

ancalimon: For fans of adventure games, 3d adventure games were a downgrade from the older 2d games.
For some fans anything but 2D pixel graphics is unacceptable. Many of these fans had issues also with FMV. For many other fans it doesn't matter what kind of graphics the game uses as long as the story and puzzles are good.

Personally I didn't (and don't) have issues with FMV or 3D graphics. Biggest issue I had with many 3D adventures were the controls, but luckily GK3 kept the mouse controlled point and click interface. Back in the early 2000s I actually wished that other adventure game companies would use similar interface as GK3, because usually the keyboard controls were very clumsy (Monkey Island 4, Broken Sword 3 and Simon the Sorcerer 3D are fine example of decent adventure games with horrible controls).

Shaide: I wouldn't mind seeing a GK3 remake. One that isn't 3D, or at least that ugly polygon. I've always hated games like that.

I actually HATED 3D polygon games back in the day. It's one reason I was hesitant to get a PSX, cause all the games were 3D polygon. I always felt 2D was more realistic somehow. I do admit, that I kinda dug FMV though....At least in games like GK2 and Phantasmagoria..

EDIT: Looking at Screenshots, it doesn't look as bad or as polygonal as I remember it.....Can't play it though cause its not compatible with win 8...*death stares GOG*

ancalimon: I was wondering how do you think would a Gabriel Knight 2 remake work out?

In my opinion I think Gabriel Knight 3 is very suitable for a remake (so at least they can remove the cat puzzle! :P ) but I'm not sure about Gabriel Knight 2. What do you think?
I think GK2 is screaming for a remake...along with Phantasmagoria and several other early FMV games...! If you've seen the FMV inside the latest Tex Murphy game then you know how good it can look and how much more can be done with it today! The only thing wrong with GK2 is that the FMV was ten years (at least) ahead of its time and the technology to do it just really wasn't ready yet. The time is ripe for FMV games...too bad some of the folks from 20 years ago couldn't come back--well, Chris Jones as Tex did...and he hardly seems to have aged (like myself, of course!...;))

It would cost too much I guess. :( That's why I said GK3 is better suited for a remake.
I haven't played the 3rd game yet but I can't imagine why they remade the first game or why they would want to remake the 2nd game. They're both perfect games as is.
I guess GK4 would happen now (or any game from Jensen for that matter)

damn, I think GK4 had potential, actually.

You can play it just fine on Windows 8.1 and even 10.

unless GOG changed something in a recent patch, it doesn't run on Win 8.1, or at least I could never get it to run. I don't think GOG fixed it up though, cause the website still says "Works on: Windows (XP, Vista, 7)" whereas GK2 says "Works on: Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10)"

In fact, I haven't been able to get ANY of the sierra Polygon 3D games to run on Win 8.1....Nut sure about Win 10, because I'm not upgrading on it. The games run fine on my main PC though which is Win 7
