I honestly cant remember if that actually worked. Its been quite a few years and a lot alcohol since :-) The disabling HIDs seemed to be the only real solution ( via steam forums) which is a fair bit of a stuff around, my ultimate solution was to uninstall it ( and mutter to my self for a while, then move on ).
Which of course is no help to anyone here.

Running the game in borderless fullscreen windowed fixes all fps problems for me.

It's ridiculous that this well documented and ongoing issue is still unresolved. I have used an old USB keyboard, an MX Revolution mouse, MX Anywhere mouse, M570 trackball and now a G700s mouse. All of these are good products, common and Logitech. I STILL can't play this bloody game without f*cking around with OS settings before and after each and every play!

Shame on you GOG for selling this game with no fix or mention of the glaring issue for many players.

It doesn't seem specific to G-series mice. I have a Logitech Anywhere MX and ran into the issue. Disabling HID-compliant devices in the DM seems to fix the issue but it disables custom keybinds through the Setpoint (or whatever, Unifying whatever) software. Maybe someone who only uses the Logitech hardware without the accompanying software would not have the problem.

The PC Gaming Wiki mentions this issue with Logitech keyboards and mice, and even provides a link to a script to automate the disabling of the correct devices in the device manager, launch the game, and even re-enable them when you quit the game.

If anything, GOG ought to try and get permission to include that script in their packaged version of this game.

After having my keyboard LEDs shut off, I was going through HID-compliant devices one by one. A link in the Wiki shows that it is ones with VID_046D that are Logitech. That definitely helps to know.

I agree that GOG should reach out to the guy and add this to the installation file for the game.

I can't tell you how much it annoys me that companies are happy enough to take money for a broken product. Sure, you can argue that it's an issue that seems to affect only Logitech hardware users but imagine if you bought a new car and it would only go up to 20 mph if you wore Nike shoes... Do you think the car company should leave it unfixed or that people should still buy the car but wear different shoes? A ridiculous example, I know, but the state of games that remain broken is also ridiculous... FEAR is only one amongst many.

I can confirm that this solution is awesome, it works in many other games as well including Mini Ninjas and Condemned Criminal Origins.

Ok, so removing the Logitech software doesn't solve the issue.

On my machine with a Logitech G400 mouse and Microsoft keyboard, the HI device that needs to be disabled is the one the one that is lsited as vendor-defined device.

The script from the site linked to via PCGamingWiki should actually manage this for you as it does the following:

devcon disable HID\VID_046D*
devcon enable HID_DEVICE_SYSTEM_MOUSE
FEAR.exe
devcon enable HID\VID_046D*

So you can see that it disables all 046D devices (and then re-enables the system mouse as all 046Ds is a little overkill). After the game is quit it then re-enables all the 046D devices. So it isn't dependent on the device name/description, it works just on the Vendor IDs.

You can instead read the script and apply the changes manually. For the scripts that are readable anyway.

Hi, my problem is that I cannot run the script as admin. If I do the game just does not start. If I do it without admin rights the game starts but it doesn't help.
