I have FC1 on CD (somewhere). Apart from the hassle of digging up the CD, is there any reason why it's better on Gog? Better graphics, or add ons that don't work on the original? Anything like that?
No reason you cannot do the exact same things GOG has done to the game, which is mainly fixing the enemy seeing through things they should not. I never bothered rebuying it here as my DVD player works fine but most people do not even have one in their PCs.
Drm-free (not sure if last patch is DRM-free for disc version?) only reason. There is no x64 patch but there is x32 1.4 update that broke graphics quality. No build in compatible fix for another GFX issues. So GOG version have no special content. Just digital version and DRM-free. Like almost every releases.

Tent fix implemented base on version 1.0 mechanics.
Original version not support see+shot through. Last version bring it for multiplayer (at same time for single). And devs add readme file explain that for Sp it possible to set another value, to make possible to shot through tents but AI will do only shots back to you (your shots or high noise level).
Existed implemented fix same as from moddb make it like in original first version.

You can do it manually after some patch installed (need pak extractor i guess, or just 7zip?). Or use same fix from moddb. What you prefer more - new mechanics or make game closer to 1.0 for whatever reason (i choose manually edit to middle value, cause its not 1.0 version after all, whant 100% original balance - install 1.0+maybe lower version patch).

Yes, a BIG reason: safedisc DRM does NOT work on Windows 10, and most versions of Far Cry use it!

To my knowledge, I think there were only one or two regions that didn't use safedisc as the DRM for the physical release of Far Cry, and Mexico wasn't one of them. I live in the US and I learned this the hard way: many years ago, I bought the physical copy of Far Cry, popped the CDs into my Windows 10 machine, and much to my frustration I discovered that it wouldn't run, so I couldn't play it! So, I had to buy the 64-bit version on good old GOG.com, which I have been enjoying ever since. I really wish GOG would add/include the original 32-bit version of Far Cry, as there are a number of interesting differences between the two versions that make the 32-bit version worth checking out among diehard Far Cry fanboys for curiosities' sake.

So, if you try to put your copy of Far Cry into your Windows 10 machine, you won't be able to play it. There is an easy work-around if you have Vista, 7, 8 or 8.1 as your operating system, but I'm guessing that's not the case? Regardless, chances are good that you'll probably have to buy one of the digital versions of Far Cry if you want to play the game again.

And yes, the 64-bit version does look noticeably better when maxed out, with many additional added effects. The only downgrade that I'm aware of is that the water reflections are broken by default on modern operating systems as opposed to playing the 32-bit version on an XP rig.

Thanks, saved me a bunch of time and frustration (including looking for the old disk lol).

I think when I can grab it on sale on Gog I will.
Did GOG stop selling FarCry and FarCry 2? I can't find their pages here. And there doesn't seem to be any reference to these two being delisted from GOG anywhere else on the Internet. What is going on?

I see them just fine. Only every game after the second is missing...
From my account, both links lead to the "We couldn’t find anything matching your criteria" message. Weird.

It would make sense if all the games' pages were inaccessible, with me located in Russia and all. But that's only the case with those two in particular, which I used to be able to visit before. Oh well, good to know FarCry is still there at least.

Thanks for the reply!
