i'm trying to do the duel against Asleifr, i've done all 3 cheat quests so he's as weakened as possible yet the RNG gods absolutely hates me, i miss 9/10 even when i have an 84% chance to hit with by bow. it's aboslutely insane how bullshit this is, why is the RNG so bad? he wrecks me with every hit bit i do nothing but miss him when he's right infront of me...
Yes. This game is pure trash.
Like many of this type these days.

This % chance to hit is just stupid as the devs implementing it.
I wonder if they test it at all somehow.

Additionally AI seems to have always the better side of the dice (RNG).

Arches are generally useless and miss so much, while the AI is about 50% more lucky than you.

I'm so tired of shelling money for games that play soo damn terrible.

I've played this through a few times on almost-max difficulty (didn't go max because having your attacks do less damage than the enemy is retarded) - and had little trouble most of the time, though there are a few tough fights for sure.

However, the RNG is not the problem. Far as I can tell, the AI is no more or less "lucky" than you are - though the AI may have better chances to hit depending on the situation, in which case you need to change the situation to favour you and not the AI.

Archers are of limited use most of the time anyway because of shields, although their damage is stupidly high when they do hit - so you definitely need shields yourself (and those without shields should get behind cover, or use special moves that make archers less accurate for example).

You'll find archers % to hit gets pretty high pretty fast - just watch out for the AI using those tricks on your guys that reduce % chances...
This. The game is good (but there are some braking feature on rare quest).

I wish to believe you: but even behind cover my archers are easily hit, aven 10 hex away, while enemies 3 hex away in full sight are missed.

I can t believe how many games have the chances broken nowdays.

This is pure artificial difficulty.
Beware of the lights, you are then easy target.
Or you modded your game?
I'm super annoyed too, enemies with bows just decimate me all the time. They do stupidly insane damage and hit from across the map. Why doesn't the game heavily penalize shooting into melee?
This game is very nice and impressed me quite a bit. So I would like to finish it, but combat is just too frustrating (not only because of archers, mind you).
You have to adapt your tactics, you must have shield tanks, archers, and secondary tanks with pole arms (able to fight from behind the shield mates). You have to make kill areas for your achers, launching lights on enemies so they become easy target.
Once you have learn the game, it is pleasant.

They DO penalise shooting into melee - as in, if someone shoots into melee then the melee character gets the first hit in, which is usually a massive incentive to not shoot from point-blank - unless the character is stunned of course.

There are a few support abilities that massively reduce hit chances for archers - use those, plus cover, plus shields. I believe the witch (IIRC? One of the character types anyway) has a skill that does this, and it's stupidly powerful.

Naturally, the chance of blocking with a shield depends on the character's shield skill, and IIRC also the shield itself possibly. So make sure to upgrade your stuff whenever you can.

IMO they did mess with the probabilities in Vikings - as in, they made the hit chances massively high, and I think cover is less effective (or there's only one type of cover?). In Conquistadors, only certain classes would be even remotely accurate, and they'd still miss a fair bit - most people carried an arquebus (or similar) but their hit chance would be around 30-45% at point blank (dropping every tile). Also the damage done by bows only increased due to upgrading equipment, and not like in Vikings where it upgrades due to skill (which is IMO a bit lame, unless it's related to strength which it isn't).
