I bought it for the silly name.
I finished the game. It was fun. :)
Bought for the silly name and adorable art style, stayed of the great gameplay. The game only really gets going when you reach "All Intensive Purposes" Still hammering my way through those.

While the 'original' EG might be too easy overall, the difficulty level of that is way over the top. I've finished about 25 % by now and died approximately 5000 times. Not because I suck at playing challenging 2D platformers (went throught Contra on normal without losing a life), but because of its bloody ruthlessness.
Whoever created those levels (it's not the original EG's developer) must be some kind of freaked out masochist. And he should've built his own game with proper control mechanics. The goat just isn't made to go throught this non-puzzle-only-reaction-test hell of a game.

Oh yeah: I bought the game because of the stack bundle price.

I'd agree that the lack of a "middle ground" set of levels is a problem.

Hinterlands 8; it's like the designer was intentionally trying to make the player rage-quit. Word of warning if you get there: there's an invisible trap-door in the final corridor when it otherwise appears that you're home free.

It's not completely without puzzle elements... they're just overshadowed by the sheer difficulty required in the execution.

You're right. I've already played this one and after hundreds of retries I finally got to this corridor. When the goat fell down and got ripped to pieces by the saw blades, I wished it would have been the map's creator ;D
Well anyway... maybe you remember the donkey kong on gameboy (released around 1994)- the difficulty in latter levels was quite similar to AIP, but it had much tighter controls. That's on major problem about this 'add-on'.

Still waiting for the EG GOATY Edition.
I try to get at least through two of the All Intensive Purposes levels per day. But the difficulty of some of the levels is outright crazy and sometimes I just want to bang my head on the desk in frustration.

A wise man once said: "I dont think trying to pass the screen in computer game once per 500 tries makes you a geek. Rather a dangerous psychopath."

Maybe that's true and I should leave the game alone...
I bought it for the soundtrack. Now I cry a lot, because i cannot get past the first level of All Intensive Purposes.
because EG1 is fun and has a great soundtrack, and EG2 improves on the graphics alot. nice game!
bought it because it was bundled with other stuff for dirt cheap and boy oh boy, have i got hooked!
... until win8.1 happened.. but i opened a thread for that.

I also bought it for silly name. And unfortunately, the silly name is all I got. The game doesn't launch. :(

I'm now trying to clarify that I didn't _only_ buy it for the name, by sending a support request to GOG.

(After uninstalling and reinstalling without Galaxy, it now works. I guess something went silently wrong in the original installation.)
