In my first game as Outlaw I skilled all 3 ranged points, plus machine killer. I could range 2-3 hit kill a "Kampfkoloss" with somewhat 70-80 dexterity/strength. Laser Rifle not Bow. It was boring, mutants and any humanoid was a two shot kill. You could kill them while they are running towards you.

Somewhat at the beginning of that game I had to kill that 7300 Series Kampfkoloss and needed ~160 projectiles to kill it, somewhere squeezed between a rock it couldn't reach.

That was patch 1.1 GOG version on normal. Not sure what difficulty you played, but you can always lower it if it is too hard to be fun.

And I have video proof.

hm...and ammo is easy to optain right? if you are ok with the system, fine. i'm not. if you like this at all, perfect. i'm used to play games with better controls and systems. but you can defend and like it, its a matter of taste. i trust your words, no need for a video.

I only mean, that I went from a noob ranged to a killing machine in that game.

My second play now, I started from running and pulling monsters to the entrance of Ignadon, so the friendly guards can kill it to being a badass melee with ~30+ now. But Unholde, Trolle and other such creatures are still pretty tough.

There is progression in the game, depending on stats/skills/equipment.

Resistances are really important as melee.
Just a small reminder for you that Techland has over 300 employees, while Piranha Bytes got ~28. More than 10 times the people -> more than 10 times the quality :D

Not really but I hope you get what I mean :)

not as they made it first. now there are that much, because of the success from that game. but that doesn't matter anyways, i do not directly compare this two games, it was just an example how it could be done. maybe not the same quality, but at least more quality as they did.

Darksidewalker: i almost finished it. but did you realize, that your stats do not increase weapon dmg? ...but description says it will. i played with bow, spec from the beginning to increase this and than 2nd half i could not kill these stronger type monsters and had to hide and fire and fire and fire till they go down. thats not a combatsystem for me.
I actually never noticed if the description said stats will increase weapon damage. I just assumed the stats were needed to be at certain levels in order to use better gear. Upgrading the weapons and putting points in the proper skills are what increase the damage. At this point my character is level 23 or 24 and skilled out with all 3 points in ranged weapons and using an upgraded plasma rifle (at tier 3). I have no issues at all killing pretty much anything I've come across. The toughest creature I've faced so far (with regards to how many shots it needs to take it down) is the mountain troll, which takes around 18 or so. The Patron also requires several shots. everything else falls in two or three. And with the knockdown effect, as I noted earlier, nothing stands a chance.

Note though, that I've still not completed Chapter 1, so I'll see if things get a lot tougher later on.

Darksidewalker: do you played dyinglight? this made an indie studio as well and, lets they the game is not perfect, but it also has a huge open world and rpg elements, skills and so on. just compare controls and action feedback with weapons and woving to elex. just a little example how it could be done better. the comparison of this two games are not perfect, because they do not have the same world, style and so on... but basic gameplay features can be compared. even the weapon and crafting could be and lets they there are worlds between these two games in basics and they are both done by a "little" studio.
I've not played that one, but will look out for it on sale and give it a go if it looks like a game I'd like. For the record, i do understand how you can have issues with the gameplay elements and probably would agree with some of them. But I'm personally enjoying the game a lot, so many of the things that annoy you in this game just don't bother me. but thanks for pointing out Dying Light. :)

*edit* Just looked at Dying Light and will probably pass. Not a fan of First Person Perspective, so don't tend to buy or play them.
