Oh bummer. I know exactly what you mean, that happened to me,too once.

In the video from above you can compare the animation lag:

At 1:10 the units are laggy, and after 4:10 they are smooth after he slowed down the CPU.

I see the sound/animation issue on my system IF there's something interfering at startup. (Several other graphics-heavy programs or games will do it.) It doesn't happen when there is no such competing program/service, though. I can't help but wonder if there are background services triggering this in some cases - AV, Windows system components, etc.

I have no animations lag now, my units are moving fast as lightning (I maxed the combat speed ).

GOG support says this: "Eador: Genesis is very sensitive to applications running in the background. If the game's performance is unsatisfactory, please shut down, or at least disable, any unnecessary applications running in the background. This is especially relevant to the Google Chrome browser, but also applies to other background software, like download managers, anti-virus/anti-spyware/anti-malware scanners etc."
Not only Chrome, but Opera browser also seems cause Eador slowdown.
Firefox has started doing it too. Didn't used to.
Just like to add that setting my max CPU to 60 solved this problem for me. I have an i5 3450.
Still, wish gog or the dev would do something about this, bit annoying.
