shaddim: I tested the one from Keeperklan (http://keeperklan.com/threads/1051-Unlimited-Zoom-Out-aka-Supreme-Keeper-)?p=42739&viewfull=1#post42739) and it worked for me.
Do you really exchanged the executable or put it into the right folder? Rename the original one (e.g. DKII-dx.bak) copy the new one into the same folder and start the patched excutable directly not the game link.
7upMan: I confirm that the Unlimited Zoom DKII-DX.exe doesn't do anything extra for mee, too. I did put it in the right folder (of course, or I wouldn't be able to play it), and I also set compatibility to Windows 98/ME. Still, it only zooms out the normal distance.
OK it tested it again with the new 2.0 installer, works fine.
Here step by step what to do:
1. rename in your DKII installation the file
DKII.exe in
DKII.bak and
DKII-DX.exe in
DKII.bak 2. download the
DKII (Supreme Keeper & GOG enabled).rar archive
3. open the archive with winrar or something else (or decompress it somewhere temporary)
4. select the appropriate exe. Vanilla gog is 1.7. If you feel more experimental use the 1.73 or 1.8 experimental patch versions (are compatible with the gog install). I choose from the subfolder
DKII v1.7\DKII 1.7 Zoom_DX (GOG version) the
DKII_dx.exe executable & copy it over to the gog DKII installation.
5. double click the exe... DKII should start. Enjoy the unlimited zoom. (see screenshot

(
PS: maybe the reason of the problem reports were that the executable in the archive is named "
DKII_dx.exe" and not
"DKII-dx.exe".
Rename it to DKII-dx.exe if you want to use the installed shortcuts! PPS: strangely, I had to fix the games shortcut from the startmenu manually... was directing to the renamed old executable. After redirecting to the new one the shortcut worked too)
