Has anyone attempted the Cursed Church quest yet? Everytime I go into it the ghost attacks the priest and monk but they're both spinning around in place (I don't think that's supposed to happen). Then a ghost hits the monk with a blast and nothing happens after that. I can open the quest log, map, etc. using the shortcut keys but the screen is stuck there with the priest and monk spinning in place. Eventually the game crashes but I just want to know if I'm supposed to finish another quest first before entering the church or is my game fubar'd and can I never go into the church?

Not discounting the frustration with the church bug but it is a minor quest and has no real affect on finishing the game . The quest eventually lets you get the feign death potion for the soldier that wants to get out of the army.

I have just sent in a saved game and a dxdiag to larian. I look forward to a fix :D
I'm relieved the storyline is minor. I gave up for a while and started playing Fallout 2 - excruciatingly boring. I'm glad to be back to playing DD.

While waiting on the patch you might want to take advantage of the 40% off on Sacred Gold. Very similar game with some unusual characters, see posts in this and the SG forum for some opinions on SG.
The reason I suggest doing that is there are many more bugs in DD which will get even more frustrating. Grabbing a copy of SG will allow you to enjoy the RPG genre until the DD patch is released. Like you, I really enjoy DD but . . . until the patch I am playing SG. . . =)
I do have a workaround to the church bug. When the cut scene begins and the priests start spinning, just get a coffee and wait for 10 minutes. The game will automatically detect that a script has begun and not ended and will pop up a message to warn you about a possible bug. Just press ok and you will hopefully be able to explore the church without saving the game (use shift+mouse on screen borders to pan view as it may not focus on the player for a few seconds). Then go to the confessional (east part of the church) and come back to the main floor. From there, you will be able to kill the ghosts and talk to the priest. After you solved the church quest, you will be able to save your game again as normal.
The only thing you would have missed is the cut scene itself.

If you are still crashing, after installing the patch, there are a couple of things to check.
Backup your save files and uninstall Divine Divinity before installing the patch. Check C:\Program Files\Gog.com\ and delete any Divine Divinity directories that the uninstall may have left in place. (Thanks Arcall, missed that step)
If you are running Vista / Win 7, you need to install by right-clicking the setup.exe and click "Run as an administrator". If you just double-click the setup.exe, Vista / Win 7 tend to block some disk writes which does not allow the game to install fully. So make sure you ran the setup.exe as an administrator.
Also, if running Vista / Win 7, right-click the game short-cut, click properties, click the Compatibility tab and check mark the "Run this program as an administrator" in the Privilege Level box. If you are not starting and running the program as an Administrator you may have problems since Vista / Win 7 limit what a program can do if this is unchecked.
If you are running Win 7, you might also try unchecking the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" check box in the Compatibility mode box. Some games run better if not in a compatibility mode on Win 7, might try unchecking it in Vista as well if all other solutions fail.
Most important, in XP, Vista or Win 7 is to have the latest video drivers installed. I had several crashes which were corrected by installing the latest driver.
Check to make sure you are running the game at a resolution that your video card supports. Right-click your desktop, click Properties (XP) or Personalize (Vista), Settings tab (XP) or Personalize, Display Settings (Vista) and note the resolution displayed below the resolution slider. Moving the slider to the left will show other resolutions supported by your card.
If the Configtool.exe (see attached image) does not give you an option for a screen resolution your card supports than check this thread for info on editing the Config.div file for custome resolutions. It is for a netbook but the info is valid for setting costume resolution in the config.div file on any system. Open the Config.div file with notepad.

Also make sure you uninstalled the old game before running the updated install, or nothing will change. Made that mistake myself.
