ussnorway: I assume you won at the lighthouse again... any way gratz and thank the heavens that you have seen the last of that boss.

snickers knowingly.
Well, we were victorious again. Using our memories of the past battle, we summoned a spider and between it and Madora, the wolves were quickly dispatched. Jahan teleported the explodeskeleton close to the ghoul and took it down quite a bit, while I, the Ranger, pelted the ghoul with a deadly combination of Explosive and Silver arrows. The second round Jahan moved forward and froze the ghoul while Madora rushed and nearly killed the ghoul. I knocked down an archer. My sister, the Wizard, finished off the ghoul with a firey blast, and the spider finished the last of the wolves.

Finally, I knocked down the other archer (which had dispatched the spider), Jahan froze the first archer, my sister killed it, and Madora moved in for the kill on the knocked down archer. My arrow found it's mark and the final archer went down permanently. Victory! and no deaths (other than our dear lamented spider ally).

We then explored the rest of the rainy woods and discovered the archeologist in an abandoned shack. We helped him back to Cyseal and received a small reward from the grateful Legionnaire captain. We celebrated our accomplishment at the King Crab Inn that evening with feast, drink and song.

The next morning we decided to head out into the woods one last time to see if there were any stragglers. We came across another group at the far end of the woods. Some archers, a priest and a couple other undead. The priest was felled quickly with a couple arrows and Jahan's lightning spell. The Wizard summoned her spider pet and it and Madora engaged the Clubber and Killers. Despite being a little hung over by the previous night's festivities, we ran them through quickly and with little trouble.

Now, we await the coming dawn when we will once again venture forth through the town's East gate to see how we fare against some of the creatures there. Plus there's the house by the garden we haven't fully explored yet.

I was only level 3 and had no problems at the lighthouse.

I was level 4 AFTER I did the lighthouse.

I should have some more adventure updates this weekend. It's been a busy week and I haven't had much time to play. Not that anyone is awaiting the next installment or anything, heh.

Well I'm curious :)

I'm at about the same level. Just finished the lighthouse and now slow scouting out the rest of the undead on the west side. Found some Fire Chimera who were a bit too tough but more success with the undead archers and skeletons.

I haven't made much progress with the murder enquiry but wasn't sure if I was missing something obvious or it progresses as you do. I have met the faithful pet but no idea what i'm supposed to bring him.

And a secret passage in the graveyard you say? Lets unload this loot and take a better look,

Well, I should have a post tomorrow with more adventures. My playing time was kind of short this weekend, unfortunately. That and I didn't anticipate Fallout New Vegas to be so much fun, heh. But I'm definitely playing more D:OS tonight. =)

The day dawned and we wandered back into the woods surrounding the lighthouse. My sister had noticed a couple more areas we hadn't mapped yet. At the far end of the woods, we found a field of flames patrolled by some flaming monsters. We hadn't intended to engage them, but they insisted we stay for afternoon tea. After a round of getting thoroughly spanked by them, we were able to flee back to Cyseal. Licking out wounds, we headed back out to the same area (this time giving the flaming area a wide berth) and discovered a doorway near an undead dog and other assorted undead.

The doorway led to a small underground chamber with four pillars. Next to the pillars were some sort of mechanism. When we examined one (the pillar had a stone with a Fire symbol on it), there was a click and Jahan wondered if it had done anything. No obvious results, so we left that cave after I conversed with a couple of friendly rats. We then went back and examined the shack we'd found the archeologist in and discovered a similar doorway. The abandoned basement held a number of useful items and ingredients.

Finally, we revisited the well that led to a cave. This cave connects to a number of locations, including the graveyard in the north end of Cyseal and a point at the west side of Cyseal. While coming back through the caves, we found another passageway we hadn't noticed before and followed it to a room with a number of traps and some chests. The room opened into an abandoned house in town. While the doors were locked and we couldn't open them, there were a number of items worth taking. A journal mentioned the house had belonged to the town's blacksmith.

After that we teleported back to Cyseal and sold a number of things before retiring to the King Crab for songs and spirits.

FlynnArrowstarr: No kidding. I found the lighthouse. Yay! I got trounced badly by the ghoul guarding it. Yay?
Lvl3 & 4, party of four, and haven't made it to the light house yet...;) I responded here because your post is ironic...;) This is my third restart (and the one I'm sticking with), and for my 3rd start I decided on a Mage (ranged fire magic) and a Ranger (ranged weapons), and so far this is the best arrangement I've used. Madora is my fighter and the other guy (met in the library) is my other mage (water magic, mainly.) It's working out great.

I was also surprised that this time when I got to the Hall of Heroes that my regular party members were better than what I could buy--or else so close as to not make a purchase of another party member worthwhile. I also decided on a different overall strategy this time, that namely I would do all of the city quests *before* jumping into the sewers, and before leaving town for Evelyn's "beach house".

Just guessing but it sounds like you're letting enemies gang up on madora (who is wearing some light lvl22 armor--yea, 22--I got somewhere--might have been the quartermaster or Esmerelda's shop--can't recall. If they are ganging up on her then you need to focus the attention of the rest of the party on helping her. As she is the only member of my party without a ranged capability (thus far) it's actually pretty easy--and when she gets into melee distance she packs a heck of solid slice...;) Great game--now it's time to get back into it!

This is my first playthrough. Initially I was getting discouraged and nearly started over with a Fighter and Mage group, but I've stuck with it. I'm having a much better time of it now that I have a Summon Spider spell and Madora has some great armour and a killer two-handed sword. I've also altered my strategy a bit and Madora seems to survive a bit easier. Also, giving my Wizard Alyssa the Small Fireball spell has been a godsend.

The only thing I haven't been able to find is a Minor Healing skillbook to give to Flynn, my Ranger. I haven't made it out of the Cyseal map yet as I'm trying to tie up as many quests in Cyseal as I can. I did find better weapons for each characterm except Jahan, but he's still pretty powerful with his spells, as is Alyssa. I'm still looking for a second Summon Spider spell for Jahan though.

Excellent--yes, I think that the combo of the Mage and Ranger to begin with is pretty good (you got it on the first try--I had to start over twice before I found it!). And I've noticed that Madora really slams 'em home, too! I haven't found a better spell than Jahan's "transport" spell...Lol...you know the one that trans-locates them and they explode when they re-materialize...? Always fun to watch....!

Arhu doesn't have Summon Spider? I think he has about 4 copies of it in my game. Of course, following Murphy's Law, that's because it's a skillbook I don't need for my party. Also, I don't think Jahan has that magic group to start; you might want to consider having him get better at the magic he already knows instead. (Assuming you're planning to keep him around for the long haul.)

He had about three copies of it when I'd bought one for Alyssa, but hasn't had a copy of it since. I can't remember if it's a fire or earth element spell, but I figured it'd be worth one point in the skill for Summon Spider. I wouldn't want to increase it beyond that point. Having two spiders helping Madora on the front lines should help immensely for the foreseeable future.

I hope people are enjoying my mini-playthrough posts. I'm having a lot of fun writing them, especially since I've switched to writing them "in character." I'll keep going with it until the thread dies on it's own. =)

Flynn
FYI spider is earth… given that Jahan is already water & air, he doesn't get much from earth (which works best with fire) and I'd take a single point in Witchcraft because that has the un-dead knights' summons and also gives him a non-elemental damage type.

All characters will eventually be able to teleport… Madora is my pick… basically she drops a fireball at her feet and teleports away just before it goes bang!
p.s.
the ship in the docks has a guy that sometimes sells good spells (any type) & the girl in the first room (up stairs) of the inn is good for witchcraft books.

FlynnArrowstarr: Somehow the fates intervened and we wound up outside the lighthouse again with a strong sense of deja vu. Perhaps the Imp at the End of Time had convinced the Weaver of Fate to do a little creative backtracking? We will make note to ask them next time we teleport there.

Flynn
At which part of the forest did that happen? I've cleared the lighthhouse and gone back to town but there was no deja vu for my party.

He's writing it from his character's point of view. In the real world, he means he had to reload because his party died. :)
