-Mithridates-: While I prefer the graphics of the original game, I must say that it looks like they have done a good job trying to keep close to the spirit of the original in the remaster. It would be tempting to buy the remaster for the opportunity to play the game in multiplayer, without there beings lots of bots and hacks. Though I'm sure those things will come as the game gets older.

Timbroski: That's one of those things that people hate modern day battle net for. It's really good at keeping most cheaters out of Blizzard's games, afaik. Could be wrong, but I never hear of aim botting in Overwatch, whereas with CS:GO I hear about it every time I ask friends how it's come along.
That sounds great. You are probably right. I don't play much online these days, but I suspect that the modern methods of fighting cheating are a lot more effective than those used in the past.

Spoiler: no, they are not ;)
If diablo 2 comes to GOG.com I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I still have the disk version on my computer and play it time to time. My wife and I playing this game so much together.
I changed my mind on D2:R. Cancelled my pre order for personal reasons. I'll still buy D2 if it comes to GOG, but the remaster I'm holding off on. Acti Blizz just fired more people after having a massive profits report. Crappy businesses do not deserve money.

NOTE: I did say if Blizzard had crappy practices it's worth complaining about them. I also cancelled my WoW sub, at least for now.

I hope I have the testicular fortitude to stay away from acti-blizz now, other than playing my old school copy of D2.

Sigh. You want to give companies money and they just can't help themselves.

They should add Bobby Kotick as the final boss\CEO in Diablo 4. There could be a portal in hell taking you to the Activision Blizzard headquarters.
I dig Timbroski's post. But boy I would love to play Resurrected.

And Mithridates' post made me lol.

I'm convinced he's Hell Baal.

Do what's right for you. I don't judge gamers anymore, unless they're buying those questionable Japanese imports. ;)

That could be.

" The most reckless and brash of the Prime Evils, Baal revels in utter annihilation, not only of the world around him, but those who dwell in it. This is regardless as to whether he incites or inspires such destruction. "

Yup. Bobby is DEFINITELY Baal.
I hope they release at least SOMETHING this Christmas. If it won't be D2 Remaster, then at least D4. I don't care, I'll buy both.
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/diablo-2-resurrected-technical-alpha-has-been-cracked/

If even the cracked version of the Technical Alpha still requires the B.net client then I guess it's safe to assume that it will be the same for the final release version as well. A shame, but this (+ all those little deviations from the original, especially in the characters' design) only makes it more easier to give Ressurected a pass, at least in my case.

In regards to Legacy Diablo II + LoD getting a release on GoG sometime in the future, I still think that's in the realm of possibility. Simply because Blizzard might not want to support/keep maintenance running for the standalone original release forever and the standalone original release likely won't sell that much anymore once the remaster (which comes with the built-in Legacy version) is released.
And considering how exceedingly well Diablo I performed on GoG Blizzard would be stupid to not repeat that with a DRM-free release of Diablo II + LoD here as well.

Time will tell.
Good thoughts in your post. I'm not overly concerned with a battle.net connection, since it doesn't have overt DRM other than always online? I was told single player would be able to be played offline though, so I'm a little confused.

Time will tell I guess :)
Waiting to see what happens with this one before buying a copy. I hear you can play with OG d2 players, and I already own a copy of OG d2/d2:log so... Yeah. Played the beta, it's exactly the same as I expected, but the fps increase and nicer graphics are pretty cool.

Will eventually get it, I'm sure, but instead of pre ordering it, I spent the $40 on new moccasins and undies. Still hoping Diablo 2 comes to GOG, though.
