The progression of the story reminded me a bit of Game of Thrones where I lost interest after the red wedding. I don't take it kindly when author wipes out a bunch of characters you got attached to and replaces them with a bunch of less interesting characters.

So I don't think the whole killing of Jackie, Dex, Evelyn, T-Bug etc. does wonders for the game - it actually makes you lose interest...

karmahero: P.S. Also, as much I do enjoy Keanu Reeves and even the Johnny Silverhand character, there was way, way too much of it in this story. A valid argument could be made that it's not really the story of "V" (the player), but it's really just Johnny's epilogue that V plays a role in.
While everyone has their opinions, that was my interpretation of the entire game. You "V" were just along for the ride, the star of the show is Johnny. He was a narcissistic egotistical dick head, that only used people for his ends, and nobody really liked him.

Now he is in your head, being a narcissistic egotistical dick head, and he is using you the same way he used everyone else. He isn't going after Arasaka for some heroic purpose (anti-corprate/anti-capatialist), they took something from him, and now he wants to give them a black eye, and he wants to use your body to do it.

The game to me was about trying to survive in a world, where you are constantly being used for some other persons gain, and you keep being a tool. Whether it is Johnny, a corp, NCPD, or a fixer.

To me its why the nomad ending was the "best", at least you finally get to do something you want to do.

NuclearShadow: The ending no matter what path you take is a lesson learned that there isn't always a winning situation. No matter what you do or the choices you make sometimes life will throw you a negative event that you cannot come out on top of. V was lucky, V got to live for a short time beyond this which isn't something all of us will have in our real lives. V also was able to make very important choices that changed the lives of others at this time. Especially Johnny if you do the right thing and ethical thing. This game revolves around righting wrongs when you cannot save yourself and many of us will find ourselves in those very shoes someday in our own life circumstances. The rest will die suddenly and never get that chance.
This was the hard pill to swallow, you died, your choices killed you and Jackie... at anytime knowing all the risks you could have said no. V decided to push forward and by doing so resurrected the stolen life of Silverhand and killed his only friend in Night City. Dealing with that and accepting the fate of choice was really difficult,

By choosing to push forward after death he allows Silverhand to live again in a body which he does not own... changing Johnny into a more caring person in the process and saving his life by going beyond the black wall. We know other engrams live there and time passes differently. So V isn't dead hes just trapped for now.

Knowing the lore and the technology available V can easily come back from every single ending... except the secret one, which is hard to get because its the non canon one and you cant play past it in any way. But there is a way to bring back V in every single option chosen.

The burden of choice, and the acceptance of death... That is what hits so hard with this game.
