sailmaker.769: If only they let K&M players steer with the mouse, just like Witcher 3, it would be fine.

midrand: Or just bring the Roach back, right? You could have a mechanical horse...
The game would go from medieval-fantasy of Witcher 3 to post-apo fantasy of Vampire Hunter D pretty fast...

decourcy22: No no and more no. If you're not tapping when using a keyboard you're not playing it right.
Yeah, no. If I press the pedal a little bit, I will only accelerate a little bit. If I stomp on it hard, I will accelerate as fast as possible. Also, the main problem with "tapping" is when trying to turn. If I drive a bike and only want to turn very slightly just to overtake a car(s) in front of me, I'd just turn steering handlebar slightly but here I only have binary choice of maximum turn or no turn at all, which leads to annoying and immersive breaking tapping, which sometimes even leads to losing control over vehicle. I may not know much about driving cars in real life (I never had a chance) but I do know how to drive motorbikes and it's nowhere near how CP2077 portrays it.

Pure_Mind_Games: I'm on console and while not the best, it's a far cry from 'horrendous'.

I just want GPS on the roads not just the map, I've missed so many turn offs it's not even funny.
I guess you find your vehicle, sliding into a bunch of pedestrians entertaining, whenever you have to make a turn then... :P

Who doesn't? Only happens when I see the turn on the map at the last second and panic, which is what you'd expect to happen to be honest.

I've learned to semi-realisticly slow down when I approach a crossing or T or L turn. But I shouldn't need to do that on highways though.

I don't think you do, though most of my driving so far has been in Watson.

OR in a vehicle in the year 2077, that is designed to have good handling and speed for when you need to quickly get away from enemy NC gangsters or the police or a corp when making a turn anywhere. Of course, if your vehicle is like an SUV or a Jeep or truck, then not slowing down before making a turn should result in an accident due to the high center of gravity. But not all vehicles are like that. So it would be nice if some vehicles are able to make sharp turns without sliding off the street.

So, you memorize your route while on the map screen and then just drive that way?
Because once you go at any decent speed, you won't have enough time to react if you suddenly have to turn because you're not completely familiar with Night City.

@Down
Yup. Sorry, you're right, I've missed that part. The issue still remains though - minimap should zoom out relatively to how fast you're moving.

What? I already said I follow the line on the map.
This is hilarious. It's sounds like people are just figuring out the concept of tapping a digital button to get extra control.

It reminds me of that time gog gave AvP out for free with galaxy and a lot of people complained the game was broken because it was "too fast".
Nah, this is more like Colonial Marines and Xenomorphs in AVP, sliding around and crashing into stuff when they try to run while cloaked Predators are watching and laughing their asses off.

I think the driving is just fine. People I know who don't really play driving games also haven't had any complaints. Really not sure if people just don't understand that you aren't supposed to go pedal to the metal and you have to let up on the gas to maintain proper control like in real life, or if they deluded themselves into thinking that this game would also be an in depth driving simulator on top of all the other wild expectations. Just no pleasing some people.

I found it massively over sensitive on keys at first, maybe it's my imagination but it seemed to get a bit better after the 1.04 patch.

As I said, the problem is that (as you admit) you don't know how to drive a car. You want to keep constant pressure on the accelerator when in real life if you do that while turning what the car does is cut power to the engine. Electronic Stability Control, look it up. When taking a turn you let go of the accelerator, slightly turn the wheel and apply brakes as needed (which helps spin the back into position). It's a car, not a player character. If you want to power a turn you need to wait until the nose of the car is actually in the direction you want it to go and THEN apply the accelerator.

All I can do is keep emphasizing how you should try driving a vehicle without electronic stability control, by law every newly manufactured vehicle has it but you cannot do stunt driving while it is on (because stunt driving requires putting the vehicle in an unstable position and expecting the driver to know how to correct for that).

Electronic Stability Control.... either you turn it on and vehicles lack any of the fun or you leave it off and just LEARN HOW TO DRIVE.

Is not horrible, but it could be fixed to be less finicky about how much acceleration the vehicle applies.
I drive a motorcycle in game, and its at least reliable on how it moves.
Its far more noticeable on high acceleration high end cars, like my other drive a quadra. Always skids when you first accelerate it and it always drifts on turns. It can be controlled but its certainly harder on high acceleration super cars than on motorcycles.
