I'm playing mouse and keyboard for reference sake.
Now that I've gone through the whole game, I've gotten a much better view of the boxing system.... and it's full of cheating shit:

-I double tab back to get out of range, being a good 5 to 6 feet away and the enemy still hits.
-I dodge around at least 90 degrees to their left and the enemy still auto-turns mid charge to hit.
-the controls don't respond for a good full second sometimes.
-the last enemy auto blocks after you punch him.
-he also teleports;
No joke: I used the age old boxing strategy of driving him into the corner to pound on him and the game teleports him out.

This boxing thing is supposed to be about skill.
the systems should be tight and fair.
They arn't!

I can understand how having huge hitboxes for melee weapons is good in open combat. (they are huge!)
Missing by an inch is just frustrating.

Everyone who designed this and thought it was a good idea should be forced to go through a month of boxing to see what a load of crap this part of the game is.

I was willing to put up with this for the rest of the boxing because you can just leave, outlevel it and come back to win it despite the cheating crap.
I was also hoping it'd get better; it didn't. :-(

With this last one there's no outleveling it... it's either reload over and over or accept a match loss that is clearly unfair.
Neither is acceptable.

I hope they fix this cheating crap soon!

Changed difficulty to very easy for the pacifica fight and sent him to the floor with two or three swings ... raised difficulty to hard again after :)

It's not the last fight btw ... only the hardest by far so far ... Had around 1000 life and still could only take one hit from him on hard.

Should use gorilla arms obviously. Legendary short circuit quickhack seems to work fine for me as well.

With a Level 50 netrunner the boxing is nearly impossible... managed it after a lot of retries.

Heh didn't even think of changing difficulty.

Yeah he could two shot me most of the time....
It wouldn't really have mattered if I could actually dodge his hits. :-s

yeah my guy was a netrunner and tech specialist.

How many retries?
I gave up after about 10 or so.
It's simple

Get a Legendary Melee Item with loads of BLEEDING
Add Crits to your clothes if you're Tech just jackup some clothing

Drop 2 Melee Weapons as the first will not always Equip the 2nd one should when using R again
Blocking will be easy and the rest is easy.

Counters get random on 2 of the Cheaters for some reason

Was not able to block the atacks from rhina/razor. But managed it a last (after about 50 retries). Dodging back on each attack and answer with a strong gorilla arm attack (not the best strategy, could only stand 1 hit - after that I had to wait for the hp to restore).
Oh yes the boxing is god-awful.

I find that dodging sideways tends to work most of the time - but the fact that they can hit you from what seems like a stupid distance away is incredibly retarded.

That and the fact they can one-hit me while my dozens of hits on him (even heard the nice CRUNCH sound) took out something like 5% of his health (!).

To be fair my current build has body 6 so not exactly built for boxing - so was expecting to have to do a lot of dodging and hit him a lot, and not get hit - but when the hit-boxes are what they are, it's ridiculously frustrating. Even turning it down to easy didn't make much difference (though my hits did a lot more damage at least, and I could take a hit before the second one floored me, as opposed to getting downed in a single hit).

It would also help half the time V would actually use his fists properly instead of doing some lame push thing.

And it's definitely stupid not being able to box someone in a corner, since it's all too easy to magically glitch through them...

Razor was doing this swinging at air whilst I was behind him and then KTFO It was satisfying to beat him off with a Bat.

yeah I gave up on blocking way back after the second fight.
It doens't stop the damage. :-(
Weird, I could block all those punches in the last fight and was easy in Very Hard due to that. I dunno if I had a specific mod or perk equipped that let me block without getting hit or my game was just bugged.

I remember wearing Oda's top, gorilla arms with the fire mod, legendary armor cyberware and the rest were just clothes with critical damage mods.
I beat ALL OF THEM without gorilla arms or weapons.

You will have to invest some perks on brawler tab, specially those who raise the damage on blunt weapons, charged punches, and health/stamina recovery

You dont have to spend so much on that, so dont waste your perks on all brawler related things. be careful about spending perks on brawler unless you wanna follow the STEALTHY way through all your playthrough.

I lost a lot till i figured out how to beat the game´s boxing IA.

1 - never give your enemy a moment to hit you, JUST DON'T. when the bell rings, go straight and spam CHARGED PUNCHES, all the time, only be careful with stamina consumption. dont let it reach zero. if you do it on time, you will always get some recharge. its only important to not spend all stamina like crazy.

dont spam like mad... do it everytime the enemy gets back to action, so its HARD PUNCH > enemy gets stunned and fall back a little > when it finishes the animation and gets ready to fight > HARD PUNCH...

2 - rinse and repeat till the enemy pushes you back, and charge a hard punch to hit you. that will be inevitable.

when that happens, just double tap D (not A or S), and move the cam to the enemy and spam the hard punches till it reaches the corner... rinse and repeat till it falls down.

You see, the problem with most fights is that you will give your enemy the time to hit you with combos, which will make you spend most of your stamina on dodges and sometimes you get hit.

Just dont give the enemy the chance to start combos, and youlll beat it. sometimes shit happens, nothing is perfect, but it will be YOUR MISTAKE, not the strategy.

I beat all of them without gorilla arms or any cheaty cheat, on VERY HARD mode. keep training and youll beat them too;

Not to mention your tiny little T-rex arms barely being able to touch them unless you run up against them.
I gave up with the last one when playing my first playthrough as a Netrunner. No strength or health for that kind of thing. I will try again with a melee build once there is some new content and it's time to play again.

(I have such a huge backlog that pausing a game for a few months won't even make a dent in my list. So I will wait.)
I just took the "fall" in the last one. But the boxing missions, even though optional are a one reason I can't bring myself to do another play through.
