I have begun looking into modding Corsairs Gold and have made some progress. The game is difficult to mod, but some changes are possible with a lot of patience.
So far I have been able to achieve the following:
- Change starting ship on mission 01
- Change the stats of a ship (Chebec with 150 crew for testing)
- Add the unfinished Portuguese faction into the game on Dutch mission 01

Below is a list of things I would like to achieve, not sure if all are possible yet:
- Add Adventure Mode back into the menu
- Add Portuguese to the adventure mode maps as a fully functional faction
- Add additional versions of existing ships

I'll add images for reference and will keep going down this rabbit hole.
I'll update this thread once I have made more progress.

I have managed to add Portuguese as an AI faction into scenario 31 (French Adventure Mode).
I have assigned them two French ports, Bequia and Grenade and assigned them starting ships.
Ships seem to follow a number of set routes, not sure if this is always true or just occasionally, the files are difficult to make complete sense of.
I am looking at customising a route for Portuguese as their current route isn't ideal.
I have noticed them upgrading their ports and behaving as a standard AI so that is pretty cool.
Two issues to be aware of: You cannot see Portuguese towns on the Towns list and you cannot purchase Portuguese spies. I am not sure if this can even be changed.

Thats some good news, and it would be great if all works as intended but adventure mode working is already very good. Again thank you for what you are trying to do, that´s great work.

Thank you, not sure if I can fix the two small issues, seems all ui is almost impossible to update without source code, otherwise I likely could. Running more tests but if everything else is good I’ll share some files and feel free to have a play around.

Getting Adventure Mode missions to work is also an annoying process of copying mission files in directories which is not user friendly or ideal. I am also looking at building an Adventure Mode launcher, which will allow the user to pick which level they would like to play then launch the game. In the background the mission files will be replaced with the files the user picked. Then select New Adventure, your nation and launch the mission. This could operate as a user friendly way to getting Adventure Mode to work without manually messing with game files.
I have begun building an adventure mode launcher, it’s a small application which allows the user to select one of the adventure mode missions and then launch the game. This doesn’t replace a menu option but gets rid of the manual game file swapping and is easy to use. I have a functional prototype. Once I’m done with the launcher and have finished adding the additional adventure mode scenarios I’ll post an update and link to the files, application and a how to. I’ll likely also post a short YouTube video showcasing the updates, the launcher and going through how it works.
I’ll update again once I’ve made more meaningful progress.

That would definitely be great. I´ve been using save files someone posted on the other post about moding adventure mode but your idea is better and a lot more convenient. Here´s hoping you can manage it.

- I am going through all missions and noting new maps for Adventure Mode, have already found a few I will be adding in.
- Goal is for all factions (except Portuguese) to be playable on ALL adventure mode maps, which includes new previously unused maps, I have counted a dozen maps with all factions playable.
- Also the player starting shops and gold have been adjusted to make each scenario more challenging.
I am estimating I’ll have this done and released by end of April, all of these changes take a long time to complete.
Final release should be a launcher with the new scenario files, no manually swapping out game files etc.

Oh my, that is really great news. Even better then I was expecting :D Can´t wait for that and I know my father will be thrilled if he can play one map with Portugal.

Yes, Portugal is included, only as AI though. I'll open a new thread purely dedicated to the Adventure Mode launcher as Adventure Mode seems to be a very in demand option, hopefully others will see it and get to use it once it launches.

Maybe your could try to fix the language files. Most of Dutch, German and Polish ones are simply missing.

I’ll be updating the language files within the launcher for the new scenarios, I can also add other language files to the game as a seperate project, not sure which ones are missing and where though.

Just read your previous project post, also noticed the fifth Portuguese faction I see. Also mission 35 has a BLK file so the devs also considered playable pirates as far as I can tell.

Wow I hadn’t even looked as MIS00, that’s pretty cool. Look like I’ll be adding another map to my project!
