When I purchased Colossal Cave a few months ago on GOG, I was disappointed to find out that VR support didn't exist in the PC version. Then I saw today that an update was released on Steam on 5/20 which added VR support! However, it doesn't appear that the GOG version has been patched to that version yet. Is there an ETA on when that patch will be released on GOG as well? Thanks.
The VR version of the game is based on SteamVR and launches from Steam. It had never occurred to me to put our SteamVR version of the game here on GOG. I'm not sure it would work, as it is heavily tied into Steam. Are there any other games on GOG that have VR versions? I'll do some googling and see what I find.
I case it helps - believe Myst has both standard & VR modes...

Myst

'BUILT FOR BOTH VR AND 2D DISPLAYS

Designed and built from the ground up in Unreal Engine, this newly-reimagined version of Myst includes fresh takes on the visuals in every area in the game. With both VR and 2D play experiences in mind, this definitive, modern edition of Myst will immerse you in the world in a way that has never been possible before.

The VR experience includes both Free Roam and Teleport modes, and supports Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Rift S, and Quest via Oculus Link.

Additionally, Myst includes many “comfort level” features for both new and experienced VR users, including the option to enable smooth or snap turning, quick travel up stairs and ladders, vertical height quantization, and more!'
Interesting! I'll download their version (Myst) and see what I can learn.

Another chapter in this saga....

Our engineers think it would be easy to do a version of our game in VR for GOG.

However, we received this email from GOG when we asked them:

---

Hi DJ,

Good to hear from you!

Regarding the VR version of Colossal Cave:
Currently we are not releasing VR titles on GOG due to the technical limitations - our QA Team does not have the right equipment to effectively test VR titles. I hope you understand that.

If there is anything else from the product/publishing site I can help you with, please let me know.

Thank you,
Mateusz
That's not fair! I've been waiting for this game to be updated with VR on GOG before finally playing on my Valve Index headset!

GOG has other VR titles already on... can you try to push back Ken?

FYI these are all VR games tagged by GOG themselves:

Email me at ken@cygnusentertainment.com

I should be able to hook you up with a free steam key for the vr version...

It isn't a solution to this issue, but at least you get to play!

Maybe you should tell GOG about their planned VR game release which they apparently forgot ...

As usual you can forget these tags. Most of them aren't even VR games at all (Ether One is not a VR game i.e.). Others can optionally be played without VR as well (Alice VR). I doubt this will be the case with the announced Succubus VR game though ...

Thanks Ken, you're the best!
Everyone - GOOD NEWS!

The VR version of our game WILL be coming to GOG. I just received work from GOG that they would like to work with us to get the VR version of Colossal Cave published.

The engineer who will work on it is sidetracked currently, but the VR version is in the queue and should appear on GOG in a month or two.

Thank you to the team at GOG for making this possible!

Excellent news! Congrats! Thank you GOG
I wanted to take a moment to clarify a few things and share an update regarding VR games on GOG.
First and foremost, I must apologize for any misinformation provided earlier – we currently have 39 games that support VR available in our catalog.

Your feedback has been invaluable to us, and we agree that there is a place for more VR games in our collection, including Colossal Cave, as Ken already mentioned in his post above. :) To make this possible, we’re taking steps to expand our quality assurance (QA) checks to also include VR games.

Again, thank you for raising this topic on the Forum, we genuinely appreciate your ongoing support. Stay tuned for further updates and the addition of new VR games to GOG!
If you have any suggestions or ideas, please feel free to share them with us. Your input is invaluable and helps us to grow and improve.

Looking forward to it. Thank you, Chandra!
Thanks for bringing the VR version to GoG. I actually bought the GoG version when they had that GoG stream promo, thinking that the VR version was implied. I was a bit disappointed and haven't even played it yet, but I didn't have the heart to refund because those old Sierra point and clicks were a big part of my gaming life. Looking forward to playing it in earnest.

I guess Ken really was here.
He was, and IS!
