therealkenwilliams: Everyone - GOOD NEWS!

The VR version of our game WILL be coming to GOG. I just received work from GOG that they would like to work with us to get the VR version of Colossal Cave published.

The engineer who will work on it is sidetracked currently, but the VR version is in the queue and should appear on GOG in a month or two.

Thank you to the team at GOG for making this possible!

-Ken Williams
That's amazing! I look forward to it.

chandra: I wanted to take a moment to clarify a few things and share an update regarding VR games on GOG.
First and foremost, I must apologize for any misinformation provided earlier – we currently have 39 games that support VR available in our catalog.

Your feedback has been invaluable to us, and we agree that there is a place for more VR games in our collection, including Colossal Cave, as Ken already mentioned in his post above. :) To make this possible, we’re taking steps to expand our quality assurance (QA) checks to also include VR games.

Again, thank you for raising this topic on the Forum, we genuinely appreciate your ongoing support. Stay tuned for further updates and the addition of new VR games to GOG!
If you have any suggestions or ideas, please feel free to share them with us. Your input is invaluable and helps us to grow and improve.
And thank you for clarifying. I knew the original response must have been a mistake considering the other VR games on GOG, one of which even happens to be exclusive to GOG.

VR games absolutely deserve to be on GOG and I really hope to see Batman Arkham VR, Doom VFR, TES V Skyrim VR and Fallout 4 VR in the future. GOG has a relationship with the publishers of these games, so it;s not unrealistic.
I just wanted to pop in and bump this post as a reminder that we're still working on it. We're still focused on a major visual upgrade of the game, which has been added to GOG (PC-only). We're nearing the end of the updates to PC-VR. I'm hoping we'll have the VR version here within the month.

Fingers crossed!

Hey - Following up.
The VR version is now on GoG - Thanks for putting in the extra work to get thin in place Mr. William's.
I can imagine a lot of time and effort was required for a rather thankless task.

For clarity/confirmation...

GoG sells two versions:
Standard/pancake version (No VR).
VR only version.

Steam sells two versions
Standard/pancake & VR combined version.
VR only version.

Testing here today, I couldn't find a way to get the GoG version in VR mode.
(BingGPT suggested the options should have been on the main menu???)

Which is a shame, like hommx - When I ordered, I'd assumed there would be feature parity across platforms.
(or for it to be explicitly stated if this wasn't the case)
I guess, that's my 'never pre-order a title' lesson for the year :)

At the very least, I feel more confident I understand the situation.
& whilst disappointing, I do appreciate the feedback, actions and involvement from Mr. William's on this issue.
It would have been very easy to have ignored the whole thing.

Hi IronCladChicken. I don't want to speak out of school, but it is my understanding that GOG doesn't do a lot of VR. We've been trying for several weeks to offer the VR version within the main product, but we've been unable to. Their tools don't accept it. We're still working with their developers to sort it out. Currently, it seems like a bug in GOG's tools, but we're still investigating.

Hopefully we'll be able to get it added. If not, I'm sure we'll figure something out to level the playing field. I am sorry! It's not for a lack of effort!

Greetings! As DJ said, we are working now to make our game a buncle with both a vr version and the PC version.

That said, we are doing something that GOG doesn't normally do, and neither them or us are 100% sure how to get it done. All I can say for now is that we would like to have a $24.99 bundle with includes both the standalone and the VR version of our game, and a $19.99 version of the game that is VR only. We are working closely with GOG and do think we'll accomplish our goal. And as part of that goal, we would like it if all of the people who currently own the standalone PC version of the game get a free upgrade to also have the VR version.

Bottom line: No promises, but we would like to get this done and are working with GOG towards that goal.

When I noticed the VR version pop up on the Christmas sale, I was a bit disappointed early buyers of the base version didn't get the VR version like on Steam, so I wrote a note to CS asking if I could swap my base version for the VR version. I just got the reply today. They seemed to be swamped, so it took a minute. They pretty much reflected what is in this thread now:

"Our apologies for the delayed response. We are currently dealing with a higher than usual number of requests, and our support is rather overwhelmed.

I have reached out to our Product Team and received confirmation that they're currently working with the developers to provide the VR version of Colossal Cave to the owners of the game's base version. Unfortunately, we cannot yet estimate when this matter will be resolved and can only ask for your patience in the meantime.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding, and should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again.

Best regards,
Antoni"

I'll just hang tight with this one. I haven't started the game yet. Gog and Sierra have did me right over the years for the most part. Still looking forward to trying it, and to see what game is next, too.
Found the VR version in my library just now! (received yesterday)

Thank you!

Fantastic! And, yep! The bundle is there and live. I do apologize for those who experienced some turbulence with this, but it should be smooth sailing, from here. Enjoy all. Don't forget your lamp!
