The Good:
Graphics (except that it doesn't want to go up to 1920x1200 for me)
Character models are decent looking.
The various moves in this game are useful.
T&A, and upskirts for those who like beautiful women.
The voices are interesting, not always synced, but likable.
The very bad:
Camera Control. whether mouse or gamepad, the camera will get you killed or tempt you to kill it yourself. it will zoom around at inopportune moments and refuse to move when you desperately need it too.
The controls.combined with the camera, the character has the agility of a monkey combined with the accuracy of a blind drunkard. Be prepared for extra work needed to convince the character that THIS ledge needs jumping not that one.
All of those bad things listed above pale greatly to this next one.
The grappling hook. Good idea? yes? good idea beaten into unplayable submission? most assuredly.
Yes hook shotting people and throwing them can be fun, but aiming them is another matter. The game has many arena hook throwing contest scenarios. All of which story wise look incredibly stupid. O i get to throw people into a fireplace which magically makes it explode, and thats the only way to proceed through level? or i have to land 4 people within 2 minutes onto speakers to lower a blood wall while fighting multiple enemies. well that makes sense. all that wouldn't be so annoying if the controls for throwing people weren't screwed.
overuse of the gymnastics element. Similar to the more modern tomb raiders, almost everything seems to be designed as a gymnastic course. while fun at first it becomes incredibly silly later. I can't always climb some boxes, but i can swing on poles. should you miss a jump do to a camera whip-pang, then go through the entire thing again. luckily i guess the entire ordeal just requires aiming her in the right direction and jumping.
To those who bought and enjoyed this game, goody, glad for you.
To me this game is akin to digi porn w/o a remote. Sure to attract attention but the controls are all but lost. Plus the plot is there, just not very interesting.
Have you played the first game?
and if so, how do you think it compares?
I bought bloodrayne 1 here and i think it's a pretty fun game (not great but good enough) so i would like to know if this is better of worse than the first one.

Play the demo, you'll probably enjoy it as well... It's a little different but still fun.

It feels shoddily done compared to the first one. The enemies are basically suicidal. They're nearly totally harmless, and don't even bother putting up a pretense of being a threat. Every once in a while one of them will have a staff or a pistol, and everyone else charges you barehanded. It's a beat em up style game instead of a third person shooter. The levels are much less complex and much more linear. There are now only two weapons in the game, your blades and this pair of magic pistols you find early on. The chain lets you throw enemies around now, and is used to solve the only "puzzles" in the game where your progress is blocked by something and you must toss a certain number of infinitely respawning suicidal enemies into it to destroy it. There are however, as mentioned, hot female enemies, at least in the first level. They seem like they were added as an afterthought however as they have no lines aside from random battle taunts and the models are rather glitchy. Some even have several polygons from their heads simply missing altogether,

You know, you've just sold the game to me :).

I don't think there is anything wrong with that. A good beat 'em up once in a while is good fun.
The fatalities are pretty cool, but sometimes the controls kind of suck. I think the enemies are too good sometimes, like they can pull off combos on you and knock you to the ground. And they can all gang up on you at once.

I remember getting stuck in BR2 once the difficulty ramp went pretty much through the roof because of the lightning-fast ladies -_-'. Dilated perception was pretty much the only thing that kept me going...
So, yeah - the enemies, unlike in BR1, are NOT as easy as it might seem.
Also - the first difference I noticed was the toned-down jumping. No longer can you run-jump-swirl-blade roll to go both INSANELY high and far... While you can live without it, in BR1 'UP' was the simplest direction to escape into.
