I was going to waste time with subtle intricacies and lengthy comparisons between each of the major DOS shooters, eventually boiling down to Blood3D, but then I realized something: all I could say in a 1000-word essay can be summed up in a single sentence. This game is the best DOS shooter ever made.
You will never have as much fun with a DOS shooter as you will playing Blood3D. This collection is very lovingly put together, patched up to the latest version (where they found all the patches, I'll never know), and includes all the add-on content. You have absolutely no excuse not to buy this game.
Thank you, yet again, GOG.
I agree. For me, it is the legend of the legends, even better than Duke which I love too. The atmospehre, the original (midi) music, it's kicking ass! I love it and am soooo glad they rebuild it so we can play on new pcs/systems...
Blood is defiantly the best FPS game ever made and so far there isn't a FPS game that can top it as if Blood is actually when FPS games were at their peak. What was also unique about the game that it's also horror themed compared to the other FPS games which were mostly Science Fiction themed (although Blood does have some of those elements but it's mostly old school mad science style) not to mention the protagonist (Caleb) was unique and likable and had more depth (even the storyline compared to toher FPS of it's time) compared to the cooke cutter marines and stereotypical parodies like Duke Nukem, Lo Wang, Lenard.

It's such a shame that such a great game has to suffer from a lack of a source code and a declining community than it deserves..

Honestly, I was in denial for a bit there (guess I just had too much love for duke nukem 3d at the time) that duke nukem was still better, but the more I play Blood 1 and 2 the more i'm convinced that Blood really is the best from that era of fps gaming.
Nothing will ever be better than DOOM, in my eyes, but Blood's definitely the closest any game has come, much moreso than Serious Sam or Painkiller. And it's definitely better than Duke 3D, which never was able to hold my attention for whatever reason.
I think Duke is the GOD of all the FPS games, but blood is good indeed! And Doom? Well Doom is just Doom. :) But all 3 are legandary FPS games. :)
Shadow Warrior is a close second, a really niche game that not many folks have heard about, fiendishly hard, cheesey and funny one lines and great fun as well.
Duke Nukem, Redneck, Rise of the Triad and Doom are distant 3rd place.

BUT that said, they are ALL good games with their own merits. For instance, I positively lived Doom 1 & 2 for a couple of years. Just played 'em over and over again on harder settings.
This game and cheap ass bundle has given me more fun than the latest FPS games out there.
I´m replaying it now, and honestly i agree is still one of the best made for DOS, i prefer DUKE, i think its a much more polished game, and i didnt played SHADOW WARRIOR, but BLOOD is fantastic!! i having so much fun with such an old shooter!!
I WANT JOJO !!!
this is one of my all time favourites, played the heck out of this as a child (still amazingly brutal and violent) along with dooms and quakes and duke3d. Highly recommended to anyone!! ^^
Only rediscovering my blood skiLlZz over the last month or so (use them or lose them). The caboose of the train is proving quite the bitch just as memories suggested it would be.
DOOM is DOOM! But Blood is definitely better than duke by miles! Although I love Shadow Warrior in all its awesomeness, Blood is still the best of the mid to late 90's FPS line up
Blood is the best. 'Nuff said ;)
Doom was amazing for its time, and freaked me out more than any other FPS, but I loved the quirky humour and excellent level design of the 3D Realms Build engine games.

Blood was my favourite cos I'm a massive horror flick junkie. Finding references to classics like The Shining, Return of the Living Dead, etc was always awesome :) The weapons were my favourite set of all the games too - I never got tired of lighting baddies up with the flare gun or watching them hurtle through the air from a dynamite blast...

Don't forget Redneck Rampage either, which was pretty funny and just as memorable, if not quite as polished.
Agree played all them and since Iam a fan of horror movies good and bad and ugly Blood is my favorite.
