mdqp: Spiacente can make sense: it's similar to "scusami"/"Sorry", it's slightly more formal and it's used a bit more often to apologize when you can't help something or to express contrition (in "sorry, but my hands are tied"). I think in this specific case it can also work because it can be interpreted in a sarcastic way. It should be fine to use the voice as the base, but I'd have to hear it to be sure, which conversation is it?

It does not happen in User Choice. McCoy mentions the engineers at DNA Row and calls them "fruitcakes" in English -- probably something similar in Italian.

mdqp: It should be: "Mi scusi." (unless the actor messed up). This one is also fine, in fact it's a bit better because it's more polite (in Italy you are supposed to use the third person when speaking to someone if you want to show some extra respect, and when talking to strangers it's preferred at first, even if it isn't mandatory).

Oh, snap, so there are also lines which are completely unique to each "mood"? I wonder how much time it would take to hear all the lines in the game by playing normally.

I should be thanking you for going through this. In recent years I have re-discovered the joys of playing games in my native language, if they have good voice acting, and I really appreciate having subtitles whenever I can. Admittedly, the english dub is often better, but there are some exceptions (I'd argue Broken Sword 1 and 2 to be BETTER in italian, for example), and I have come to respect even ones that aren't perfect. This one is pretty good, there are some great talents showing up. A few lines here and there probably didn't have good directions for the actors (and there are also the handful of lines that are cut in half, as we discussed), so they sound off, but most of the time the performance is strong.

The game is structured in a way that subsequent playthroughs potentially can reveal different dialogue. To be fair though, as far as I can recall this may be the most notable case of somewhat significant bit of dialogue that is heard exclusively in a specific mood. Later on in the game other factors can also contribute to dialogue changes, like McCoy's allegiance towards Reps or Blade Runners so in user choice mode you can still get special dialogue depending on how you have played so far.

The Italian localization does use the Spencer name as well. In fact only McCoy calls him Cash, and everyone else, including Grigorian himself, uses "Spencer". Maybe the voice actor for McCoy was given an old script and did not come back for the revised one? It also sounds like some sentences were recorded out of order and the actor uses mismatching tone of voice for quotes that are supposedly part of the same sequence/discussion.

In the German localization on the other hand, everyone uses "Cash" for Grigorian's first name consistently, including Grigorian.

Italian and German are the only official localizations, as far as I know, that use "Cash".

In other news, I've now completed the pass of the full transcript for in-game quotes for Italian. I've caught quite a lot of additional issues/bugs,so hopefully we'll have a new version of subtitles soon with the improvements.

I have also started parsing the German in-game quotes one-by-one too and already caught about 30 errors in the first 670 quotes. Again, the errors usually are not that big, but it's better to fix them anyway.

That's genuinely interesting. I wonder who would know what's the truth about the origins of "Cash".

I know it's been a while, but I hadn't touched Blade Runner in a while. It's still early on, but I haven't found any issues with the italian subtitles so far. It's probably going to be slow, but I'll keep you updated as I make progress.

Found 3 typos. I am playing with the restored content, but I don't think any of these are new, and I probably should have spotted them last time.

Talking to Howie (after you exhausted all dialogues):

It is sort of known issue. We've already have fixes in place for this but it seems that more is needed.

I've updated the online document with the new fixes for the subtitles.
A little something:

Possible bug: when using the mainframe to check the car owner, I was told it was owned by Dektora. At the end of the dialogue, there was an extra line attributing the ownership to a different person (Gavin Kelly).

The extra line has no subtitles, and seems to be just wrong in context, since it contradicts the previous one (it also contradicts a later dialogue with Larry, who also says it was a woman who bought the car). In case it's useful, the subtitles for this line should read: "La macchina era registrata a un uomo di nome Gavin Kelly."

Talking to Larry:
-"Si, rosso, arancio..."
should be: "Si, rossa, arancio..."

-"...proprio a me vieni a prendere?"
should be: "...proprio me vieni a prendere?"

Oh, nice catch! I can confirm that the official Italian dubbing is actually bugged here and the sound resource for this quote contains the sentence that belongs to the "next" quote (that plays in the other case, when "Gavin Kelly" is actually the car owner). That "next" quote is properly recorded at least (it uses the exact same voiceover bit, but only the pertinent one this time).

This particular issue, also, is a bug only for the Italian version.
One possible solution would be to implement some extra control over the way the sound resources are played back, so that we can cut out the last seconds of this bugged resource when it plays for the Italian version. I'll have to think it over some more.

I've implemented the rest of the fixes you mention for Larry's quotes.
