Can anyone name any similar games to BG&E? I've never been able to find a very comparable experience anywhere else...
The Legend of Zelda series and Okami are similar although not exactly the same.
They have announced a sequel to BG&E so look forward to that.
This game has really impressed me. That gameplay itself is average (so far), and the controls are horrible (its home is definitely on the console), but the story, characters, dialogue, and humor make me forget about everything else. It's just exciting to see what's around the next corner!
Glad to hear Okami is a similar experience -- I have it for the Wii but have yet to play it.

I second Psychonauts. Both have vibrant worlds and offbeat characters.

What he said. This is a very zelda style game... as is okami.
+1 for Psychonauts.
BG&E also reminded me a lot of Scrapland. Same quirkiness.
I'm going to go ahead and suggest Little Big Adventure 2, or Twinsen's Odyssey as it's known stateside. I also recommend LBA1 (Relentless: Twinsen's Adventure) but the second game in the series comes closer to BGE with the themes of other worlds and alien oppressors. Both are great games nonetheless.
Giants: Citizen Kabuto. Not exactly the same, but it has a few things in common. Humour, visuals and character, as well as being pure fun. It's on this service, as well.
And Psychonauts.

+1 for Psychonauts!
Chulip has a quirky atmosphere
Okami is very fun on the Wii
Psychonauts
Tokobots + is Zelda-ish but it starts off rather slow. I have to play more to see If it is decent
Baroque- Even though it is a rouge RPG, it is somewhat similar to Zelda
Opoona- Though it is a RPG, it's atmosphere is kind of similar especially the conspiracy part after the first half (?)
well since most of you suggested "Psychonauts" i would like to ask GOG, do you plan on getting this game on the catalog? It's available on Steam but i'd love it from here...

The two greatest 3D platformers in my opinion.
I'm going to contribute to this thread by also mentioning Psychonauts.
Platformers (especially 3D due to ports and analogue pads not being a standard input device) don't wok too well on the PC, but along with BG&E, Psychonauts is something special.
