Hey guys! Not sure if such a topic was around here. In case you weren't aware, Liquid Entertainment has nearly completed Battle Realms-To-Steam integration! Check out the update yourself!

Link to the Battle Realms Steam Greenlight.
Here's BRJokerz' inspiring video about BR-To-Steam integration.

Battle Realms IS READY FOR TESTING!

August 26 - LIQUID ENTERTAINMENT
After months of painful leftdowns, we have found the resources and people who could finish the job of making a Steam version of Battle Realms!

Over the next weeks we will be testing the game internally and, if possible, we might be bringing it to some of you to help us test.

I know it's been a hard road. No one (despite the posts) has been more frustrated with this process than I. We have perservered and barring any catostrophic bugs we will see a Steam version of BR before Halloween!

Things are looking up. :) Thanks to all of you who kept the faith, you really helped us shake off the haters and keep going. You are the best. :)

No, no no no noooooooo! XD

Steam uses DRM for their games, and limit its multiplayer option to the Steam client. And you must have steam to be able to play on any games. Basically you can't do this without internet connection. I prefer the GOG version. :)

Oh wow, having such an opinion around is really weird.

Steam is a great opportunity for both Battle Realms and Liquid to have the second life. For your information, you can play Steam games offline, it allows you to play without the need to be "connected". :)

And you can't "prefer" until you check it out and compare. Steam version of Battle Realms is gonna be new: bugs are gonna be fixed, common errors, new screen resolutions. It's not just a re-release of original 1.50q version.

But you can't play whitout the steam client while the GOG one doesn't require anything. You can play online without checking anything with direct input, and this is the best multiplayer option ever. I never again buy a single game from steam, they are just not LAN friendly. :P

Can't quite understand what are you trying to say here.
Yes you can't play without the steam client, but it's not a big deal to leave it running in the background? Other than that, the games launch perfectly and still are LAN friendly.
Are you that lazy or is it that hard for you to launch the client? o_0

It's silly if you don't want to buy BR on Steam because of the "reasons" you listed, but I can't blame you: everyone has his own opinion about things. It's your choice.

Yes, I will never buy anything from Steam. I hate when unnecessary process are running, especial if has high requirement like the Steam's connection handling. Every game I seen at my friend from steam, all of them has the LAN ability removed due to "it makes easier to pirate". I play sometimes with Battle Realms with my friends using the GOG version. Just run from its own, requires no any other programs. Basically we play with 8 player most of the time, and the half of them would never use Steam, because of the bad experience. I'm one amongst them. :)
That's great news, glad they managed to pull threw, and hopefully one day we'll see Battle Realms 2.

BR 2 is not going to happen. Ed said that if "Lair Of The Lotus" ever comes out, it's gonna be an expansion, just like "Winter Of The Wolf". And the Steam version of BR will be living and updating as long as the fans support it.

Ah, a shame, at least there's a possibility for an expansion.

True that! Maybe after BR Steam version's success and "Battle Realms Legends" relaunch we shall see more BR- related content from Liquid.
BRJokerz personally think there's no need for BR 2. Not as necessary as updating the original game, which was truly underestimated since it's release.

will the gog version also get updated..?
i wouldn't mind purchasing the game a third time, just to support LE, but i way prefer the independent gog-install
over the steam-bound install..

This is from Liquid Entertainment's site:

ON GOOD OLD GAMES...
Good old Games has been a wonderful friend and companion over the years. The original game is available on their site now and soon we will have support for their matchmaking service and more.

Can't say. I guess it won't be updated unless Liquid decideds to cooperate with GOG again. Though it's said on Liquid Site that they shall cooperate with GOG, we think that won't be happening any soon after the Steam release. We shall ask Ed!

Don't want to sound offensive or aggressive, but you guys don't understand that playing Battle Realms online is what you all should do (not with your friends locally, but online, with other players). And Steam offers a great opportunity to do so. Ed said that Multiplayer will be conencted to Steam- servers thus Steam is the highest priority here.
I play online with my friends, We connect with external IP, and play when we want. Of course, we prefer Warhammer and Rise and Fall over any other RTS, but sometime we still play on Battle Realms. When we come together it is hard to decide which game we play. For 8 player, the Battle Realms and the Warhammer is the best.

I not think we need to buy a game three times just to enjoy ourselves. I have the GOG edition, and I can connect to others without problem or desync. The DRM free option is just the best thing for any party videogame.
