Hi all - I am running win10 and have the original cd version of the game. When I click install game, nothing happens. Is the sound fix only for if you bought Incubation via GOG?

Either way, would someone be kind enough to provide some screenshots please just so I 100% know where to place the correct file.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated <3

none of the steps have worked, ive spent my money and multiple hours trying to solve this by following all these threads still not working, this has resulted in me now about to frisbee my laptop out the window and accept i wont ever play this game or use gog again has ive learned it is a complete fraud and rip off, terrible site and service peace out

Can you set any higher resolution then 640x480 with Glide-Interface?

Guys, I was reading some tips from GOG and above steps (sound.dll) which have not worked for me at all - I did one thing: I run the launcher.exe with the compatibility mode as WIN7

For all maybe also having the same problem: I couldnt change Resolution in nGlide-Configurator - or at least the changes there didnt make any effect: the game (both Incubation and Wilderness Missions) started alway with 640x480.

Solution was: Download latest version of nGlide (2.10) and replace the files in the Incubation-Folder with the downloaded ones. Now I can play it in 3840x1600 - depending on my Adrenaline Settings with Stretched or Centered Image Scaling.

I dont' know which, but a combination of these suggested ideas works on windows 11 as well. I have
- installed directx
- run as administrator and in w95 compatibility
- replaced the sound.dll and copied as audio.dll as well
- set the 3dfx via the settings executable
- restarted
- run via the desktop shortcuts
- sound works, external 4k monitor with nice aspect ratio works

If someone is still having the EInOutError problem and the previous fixes didn't help after a certain Win10 update, try googling for "incubation 1.52e patch"

Got the game working for me the first time in years.

Hi,

i just bought Battle Isle Platinum ("You cannot post any links at this moment.") for Incubation, but after installation it won't start. I see the process in the running tasks wich is constantly causing cpu load of 6%-9%, but nothing else happens.

System: Win 10 64Bit

I tried:
* replacing the sound.dll like mentioned earlier in this thread
* the Deamon Tools stuff from the official gog support page ("You cannot post any links at this moment.").
* some compatibility settings (Win 95, XP and 7)
* switch from DirectX to 3Dfx with the settings.exe, after opening the dialog again showed, that nothing changed, so i gues it doesn't work/change.
but nothing helped.

Any way/ideas to play this game under Win 10?

You also have to swap out the audio.dll file.

As you are German, you could go to https://deutschpatch.de/ and download "Battle Isle Incubation + Wilderness Missionen" to update your English version from GOG to German. It already includes working dll files.

Thanks for the hint. I checked/repaired my installation (with the gog galaxy function), got the "deutsch-patch" and replaced the sound.dll and the audio.dll with the one in the "Windows Fix" directory of the Incubation.zip. The behavior is the same as when i replaced the two files before (yes, i already replaced the audio.dll) -> the screen flashes for a moment and thats it. in the running processes one can see incubation.exe for a second and then it disapears. I also tried to switch to 3Dfx with the Settings.exe, but when i click save and lunch nothing happens, only the settings-dialog disapears.
At last i copied the other files of the Incubation.zip to the installation directory of incubation but that doesn't change anything

UPDATE:
Out of curiosity i tried to start incubation yesterday one more time and some how it starts and is running since then fine. The only problem i have is, that i have no sound in the videos. I have no idea, why it is running now, only thing possible as far as i can tell is, that a windows-/pc-restart changed something.

We have year 2024, that means 8 years later and guess what. I have exactly same problem in Windows 10. GOG ignored this all the time and keep selling this game unrunnable.

Really? When i bought unrunnable Expendables last year i thought its just a one accident, but now i see that nice serious GOG is turning into filfthy trader keep selling unworking software. That should be renamed from GOG aka good old games to GWSWIYL aka games which should work if you lucky.

Sadly, this doesnt work at all in current Windows 10x64. I will probably ask for refund cause theres no way how to run this.
All tries end with stucked task incubation.exe in background and no error mesage. With both 3dfx and DirectX mode.
