maddogg2020: I'm getting concerned since I've only been able to run the game once. I get nothing but launch crashes after playing for 2 hours Friday with no issues. I know I meet reqs, only thing that could be "old" about my rig is OS is win 7. I'm guessing they hosed an update or one got pushed while I was playing that broke things.

J Lo: Have you tried not using the launcher? If you have Galaxy, go to the two lines with circles in them at the top of the page. Click it and mouse over to "manage installation". After that, click on "show folder". In this folder, you'll see something that says "Launch Baldur's Gate 3". Double click on it.
Yeah, I tried that too. Ran as admin, same result. it seems to be related to fullscreen resolution change to play whatever the opening cinematic is. I'm thinking this because the game originally started with a resolution auto chosen that wasn't my desktop res. I changed it in the options to something more suitable to me and it ran fine and quit normally. Hasn't started since even after deleting the config files for it to make a fresh one at defaults.

I use a TV as a monitor that is 720, because of forced overscan built into it I have to scale the display. Sometimes causes issues with things that want specific resoltuions, but usually works if I go to a specific one like the native 1280x720, but it still doesn't work with this. Was already using directx 11, vulcan gets same result but white screen instead of black. It's crashing the instant it starts. I have the latest graphics drivers.

On that note, the launcher is in a massive resolution that prevents me seeing the top of the window or moving it too. I know there's people that would say I need to "get with the times" and use a higher resoltuion, but staying in a ratio that matches the native is not only best practive for program compatibility, the next highest from 1600x900 is not only so fine I would have to switch to high DPI desktop messing up other programs, it actually strains my eyes to the point of sickness even on monitors made for it.

ussnorway: well yes officially i.e, as told by Larian the min spec are Windows 10 64 bit and Gog just copy pastes the same old bullshit from one game to another which is why it says Win 7, 8 and 10 on the gog page... they just don't give two shits because you can ask for your money back
yet it started just fine on Friday on win 7 for me. Why do you think the directx 11 API is there as an option to begin with?

If it was meant to be win 10 only, why not use directx 12 then?
again because 11 works

Windows 7 is also listed as the minimum on steam so, I think your claims of GOG being lazy are false. Maybe Larian should work on their own info release or support what they say they do.

I'd get it if the OP would like to enjoy BG1/2EE on a 8yo 12.5 inch laptop with an igpu
and here I thought *I* was pushing it a bit playing DOS1EE on a desktop with a weak gpu from roughly the same year.
maybe the low resolution could be the saving grace but...
gaming should be fun so why insist on playing a full-on 3D game making its living off of closeups and facial.. facial animations and stuff on hardware like this?

the fact that bs is also posted in some places on Steam doesn't make Gog smart for doing the same lazy crap

the min stats are Windows 10 only... if you get it running on Windows 7 or 8 then more power to you but its nothing to do with Larian

The annoying thing though is it did run on Windows 7 till the first fix (very nicely actually). So it could be done, maybe they just don't care.
I wish they repair this.

Hold shift when hitting play on the launcher. Ussnorway is either a troll, or MS shill for win 10. Larian said they'd have the minimums known before this beta came out and would support 7 if feasible, and they are obviously telling more than one storefront the minimum is windows 7 despite their insistance on CD or Valve being at fault for posting the minimum specs they are given. Their insistance on it being 10 only is pigheadedness preventing them from admitting their own mistake and a desire to blame faceless companies they'll never interact with meaningfully. They probably have nothing better to do than make up things on web forrms.

The place it's posted on steam, is the store page, which Larian gives the data for to Valve, just like on GOG. Nice forum post from a representative of the devs though. You also missed this part of the same post "The minimum requirements might decrease over the course of Early Access, as performance improve". See, the minimum specs they have on the storefront, is leagally actionable information as it's being used to sell the product, a forum post by someone who likely isn't actually making the game and made a copy/paste error, isn't.
