There was the slight mishap that they initially skipped an iteration but this was fixed shortly after.
Since then the patch offline installers have been rolling out in relatively timely manner, and there have been zero problems with applying them either, if you pay attention. In fact I continue to be surprised by how quick everything gets updated, especially when compared to patching something similarly complex and ridiculously large as Cyberpunk 2077, which consistently takes ages to update via the patch offline installers.
From my perspective, the issue is that they broke the upgrade path by releasing a dead end patch. If I can't trust the offline installers and patchers to work, then why am I buying from GOG instead of any other storefront?
I applied the broken patch path (only one available at the time) before the second path was available, so it's not a matter of paying attention.
