I'm trying to use a 360 controller as a joystick. The controller itself works and I'm able to play with it, however changing the control scheme is giving me trouble.

I want to set up the controller so that it is the same as the Microsoft Flight Simulator defaults: the z-axis (triggers) control the rudder and Y and B control the throttle. Unfortunately I can't remove the z-axis from the throttle binding, which means every time I use the rudder it also changes the throttle. This makes taxiing impossible, among other things.

Is there a way to remove the z-axis from the throttle settings? I can't assign it to another axis as the others are either being used or not recognised.

You cant unbind. I had trouble too when i want use racing wheel pedals as normal B-17 pedals. Then i deleted B17.opt file in Options dir, connected my joystick together with wheel and rerun game. It maps only josystick (maybe it uses prefered controler first) and i was free to map pedals ok.
I only have the one controller, however following your suggestion I was able to get it working:

1. Delete B17.opt
2. Unplug the controller
3. Create and set-up a virtual joystick using PPJoy
4. Plug the controller back in.
5. Start B-17 and check controls
6. Rebind the desired actions from the virtual joystick to the controller.

It's a very round-about way of doing it, but it works. Thank you ataribaby for the help.
