Hopefully this doesn't overlap too much with the "Help on character design" thread, but I thought it'd be cool to post builds of "successful" characters that we've played. By successful, I guess I mean being able to progress a few ticks down the main plot and being pretty confident that future progress will be possible, as vague as that sounds.... My first few characters definitely didn't fall under that category at all, and my current one definitely does, so I think it's a pretty decent criteria nonetheless. The inadequacy of inadequate characters tends to show pretty quickly.
Anyways, here's my current char:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------
I have a gunslinging thief. Started out as a pure thief, with some points in pickpocketing, prowling, lockpicking, and dexterity. Chose piety as my background, since thieves don't really need too much money to start and the bonus to perception ended up being really useful when I got into gunslinging. Had to have Virgil do most of the fighting around the crash site, though... The reason I got into gunslinging is the decent gun you get from one of the quests in Shrouded Hills. Since I didn't have any armor, I figured it'd be good to give gunslinging a try and keep away from the baddies. While it's certainly not that easy in actual combat, gunslinging worked out great for me.
Over time, I maxed out dexterity and perception and the initial skills I put in. I then picked up some spot trap and maxed out dodge, although for some reason my dude doesn't dodge nearly as often as some of the baddies we fight sometimes...
Being a thief is really great for a gunslinger. I never had trouble with the early-game inability to afford bullets, and was able to stay on the leading edge of gunslinging accessories because of the lack of financial constraints. Plus, lockpicking and firearms are both techie skills. The disadvantage to that is Virgil can't heal me worth crap, but at least he can still kinda keep himself alive...
I did the sniping thing for a while using a really cool gun I stole that had a range of 30 (I think that's about as far as you can see). Right now I'm using a massive gun that does 20-50 damage, albeit at the cost of half of my prior amazing range. Still, with the speed I have, it's great blowing away almost anything (or even two or three almost anythings) in one turn! Walking into the boil and killing every single thug just for fun was a pretty great feeling :-)

Please post yours! It'll give people some great ideas for replaying the game, maybe. I think we should try to keep spoilers light so that people can read it without ruining anything for them.
