Hopefully this doesn't overlap too much with the "Help on character design" thread, but I thought it'd be cool to post builds of "successful" characters that we've played. By successful, I guess I mean being able to progress a few ticks down the main plot and being pretty confident that future progress will be possible, as vague as that sounds.... My first few characters definitely didn't fall under that category at all, and my current one definitely does, so I think it's a pretty decent criteria nonetheless. The inadequacy of inadequate characters tends to show pretty quickly.
Anyways, here's my current char:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------
I have a gunslinging thief. Started out as a pure thief, with some points in pickpocketing, prowling, lockpicking, and dexterity. Chose piety as my background, since thieves don't really need too much money to start and the bonus to perception ended up being really useful when I got into gunslinging. Had to have Virgil do most of the fighting around the crash site, though... The reason I got into gunslinging is the decent gun you get from one of the quests in Shrouded Hills. Since I didn't have any armor, I figured it'd be good to give gunslinging a try and keep away from the baddies. While it's certainly not that easy in actual combat, gunslinging worked out great for me.
Over time, I maxed out dexterity and perception and the initial skills I put in. I then picked up some spot trap and maxed out dodge, although for some reason my dude doesn't dodge nearly as often as some of the baddies we fight sometimes...
Being a thief is really great for a gunslinger. I never had trouble with the early-game inability to afford bullets, and was able to stay on the leading edge of gunslinging accessories because of the lack of financial constraints. Plus, lockpicking and firearms are both techie skills. The disadvantage to that is Virgil can't heal me worth crap, but at least he can still kinda keep himself alive...
I did the sniping thing for a while using a really cool gun I stole that had a range of 30 (I think that's about as far as you can see). Right now I'm using a massive gun that does 20-50 damage, albeit at the cost of half of my prior amazing range. Still, with the speed I have, it's great blowing away almost anything (or even two or three almost anythings) in one turn! Walking into the boil and killing every single thug just for fun was a pretty great feeling :-)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------
Please post yours! It'll give people some great ideas for replaying the game, maybe. I think we should try to keep spoilers light so that people can read it without ruining anything for them.
Yes, yes - Virgil how you annoy me, oh yes... I think the only reason I keep him around is because of the story since he not the 'best' companion ever to have.
In terms of character I find the gunslinger a bit annoying to make; I am a bit lazy so I normally run very low on ammo. I tend to make melee//dodge//magic my character since it's pretty easy to run through. Elf is the obvious choice since I tend to go necro at start for quick kills, though it can be a pain trying to **spoiler (sort of)** level at Liam's workshop because you are as weak as a tiny chicken baby.
Prowl is pretty cool and obviously PP, which you can use a fate point to crit succeed and get a nice swd early on.... and questy items are mine to remove at will. Then tele just so I can do the bits I want quick plus it makes me feel a bit ninja-like to sneak about/ tele around and then hit someone over the head with a sharp implement.

Dr. Von TinkStein
Mad Doctor Background
7 Mech
7 Electric
7 Chem
7 Smith
7 Gunsmith
7 Herb
5 Firearms
4 Repair (To heal robots)
Hearing of Tarants vast technological development Dr. VonTinkstein decided to take a trip to the booming industrial city hoping to learn more in the fields of science. Dreaming of some sort of mechanized army. Perhaps mechanical men of some sort fantastically ludicrous right?
Whilst on ISF Zephyr he marveled at the engineering bugging all the engineers about the inner workings of the thing. He was moslty greeted with annoyed grumblings and preoccupied workers. One did tell him that the gas used in the zeppelin was Hydrogen. which he though the idea a little hap hazard due to the gasses explosive properties. remembering his schooling days experimenting with electrolysis hearing the satisfying fiery pop it has when exposed to a naked flame.
Unfortunately when the zepplin was attacked he got to witness this effect on a larger scale the boom was deafening he thought he was going to die exclaiming "ohh i hope one day science can revive me!" But low and behold he survived disorientated and beset by some religious yokel.
This type of character is incredibly hard to play gathering the Schematics needed to be effective takes a good while. When you get their though you will have medical arachnids to heal you and automatons to rip through even the toughest enemies. Might struggle with weight though.
Thinty level 21
trowing star
3 explosive
2 chem
50% trowing
50% dodge
She is huge baseball fan love the picher here and father use to trow ball.
She way to tarant to see a baseball mach when the ship crached.
