I love Mechs, I love being a Mercenary and I love cold hard cash. This game lets you command a squad of Mercenary Mech pilots and you travel around doing what Mercenaries do, earning cold hard cash and not caring about anything else..it's wonderful! Accept a contract, fulfill your goal, get paid, repeat. If the client wants extra duties, that's extra pay for you, never settle for anything less.

One of the first tabletop games I ever played was Battletech, I enjoyed it, but 40k called to my tender young mind. I didn't truly love Battletech and it's expansive, wonderful setting until I played Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries. I still play a version of it to this very day. It's a stellar sim that might look a bit rough graphically these days but certainly still holds up mechanically. Manage your two lances of mercs, hire and fire pilots, buy new machines, equip them with some absolutely satisfying and interesting guns, and bring the pain for pay. One very clear memory was fighting a trial of possession with the Jade Falcons. That's mech combat as pure as it can get. 5 v 5, except the Clanners have better machines than you and probably more powerful weapons. Got through that fight the first time by the skin of my teeth, getting my pilots to concentrate fire... then claiming the Star Colonel who'd been giving me hell for the last couple missions as a bondsman, recruiting her... man it was so sweet. It's a game of it's times, and you don't have nearly as much freedom to go anywhere as say Mechwarrior 5... but you know what? I prefer this one. This one's a gem, people, play it! And remember. No Guts, No Galaxy!

Probably the best MechWarrior game I've ever played. With the MekTek mod, it's even better! I can't remember how many times I've completed this game (on different difficulties and with different endings). But sadly, I never experienced the famous multiplayer battles out there.

I've been suggesting all the Mechwarrior titles. Played them when I was a kid, and haven't been able to get any versions I've found of it elsewhere to work, so the only way I think I could play them again is if you guys release them. Pleas, release these games, all of them.
Truth be told, while i did played this game quite a bit as a kid, i only have vague memories of it. Vague images of destoyed cities, fighting other mechs in a foggy town, customizing my mech to try and make it better but clearly being too young to know what i was doing cause this game was a lil too complex for the age i played it, but what i remember most was how much i enjoyed it. How i just couldn't stop playing even i couldn't get much progress in cause i was playing my cousin's house and i wasn't allowed to play it too much. I want to be able to finally fully experience this game, try and learn all the mechanics, finally play the story, to bring back those memories

This game gave me a love for mechs that I didn't realize I had. Back in the day, I doo dooed on the floor and stepped in it but thankfully I was able to play Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries as my body adapted to the smell. Over the course of the day, I was so enthralled with mech warrior that I barely even noticed the smell. Later after the city turned our water back on I was able to get it out under my toenails when I took a shower. To this day, whenever I have an explosive diarrhea crap after my morning coffee, the smell of doo doo is so entwined with my memories of Mechwarrior 4 that I will frequently rush to the computer to boot up my original copy from back in the day. Check it out to see how games used to be made and how they SHOULD be made!

Each of the original four MechWarrior games are timeless for their own reasons. It's a shame that they have fallen between the cracks as time has passed However, I feel like they deserve a second chance, and GOG is the place to do it. MechWarrior 4 is a favorite for a reason, even if the story isn't your cup of tea, the gameplay and team-based mechanics will be! And it's surprisingly varied too. You have Gladiatorial missions on Solaris VII (A planet known for these types of events), stealth missions that don't outstay their welcome, and skirmishes and battles that will have you trying new things to get the best result. Or just to see how that weird loadout would've worked This series is a treat! It's my sincere hope that these games can get their day in the sun again, and new MechWarriors can suit up! After all.... No Guts, No Galaxy

I love this game.. Everyone with Gog should have it . This game lets you command a squad of Mercenary Mech pilots and you travel around doing what Mercenaries do, earning cold hard cash and not caring about anything else. It's wonderful!
Grew up with this game in my teenage years. Played it with MekTek's MekPak series of mods, which added more 'Mechs and weapons. Long time ago, Microsoft gave MekTek permission to redistribute MW4Mercs and its official Mech Packs alongside this large-scale mod, the rights of which had long since expired.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
