I just played through this game for the first time recently. The puzzles and gameplay are ground breaking for its time. Great story and amazing to have a Native American protagonist. A must play for enthusiasts and game preservationists. Deserves to be among some of the best FPS

My favorite memory of Prey is when I passed through a portal and it took me to the surface of a small planetoid in a glass box I saw some minutes before... And the terrible visage of a Hunter looking very closely to me from the other side of that very same glass. We don't have moments like this in any modern games. Not anymore. It's unforgivable that this game will probably never get a sequel thanks to Bethesda's actions back in 2011.

There's gotta be a way for Bethesda to allow this game to be released, without have to confusing it with the Arkane's reboot. They already absorbed Human Head Studios to work on the damn Redfall game and terminated them with layoffs! It's a shame! What the hell is Pete Hines doing with this IP?!

I have this game on CDROM. What impressed me the most was how original this game is: I believe this is the first time someone introduced the concept of a portal. I remember when I found that room that has a small planet enclosed in a box, and when you enter the portal, you shrink and enter that small planet where a battle begins. It was crazy to discover those antigravity paths where you can walk on walls or even on the ceiling, its so crazy that eventually I lost the sense of what is up and down...

Awesome game with lots of neat tricks, surprises and cinematic moments. It's pretty insane how the copyright struggle is what holds it back from being available (as far as I know) - especially since how one of the most awesome moments of the game is when Don't Fear The Reaper is played during the abduction sequence. The game introduced the Blue Öyster Cult to me, and I can't be thankful enough for that.

Something to note: Bethesda has to do a deal with Take Two to be able to re-release the game. This is due to Take Two having the publishing rights. Any existing retail box keys will work on Steam, as this was set up by 2K Games years ago.

One of the first games I bought with my own money and also one of the first games to baffle young me. It also was one of the first games to scare the pants off me. Would love to be able to replay it without jumping through a million hoops.

I remember playing the demo for this game on Steam but never got to purchase it before it was gone. Now I can't find it anywhere but really hope it becomes available on GOG.

It was around... 2007? I had just gotten a steam account, had redeemed my half-life keys, and was checking the store. Everything was so expensive for me at the time. Saw this game's trailer, and I was so impressed by it!, it looked so amazing! and the little story I watched intrigued me so hard! I had to have it! But no money... I found a way to play it, and passing through my first portal was an incredible experience! Not to mention all the floating and the use of magic that I hadn't seen in any game before this. Even tho I played through it, I decided I would buy it when I had the chance. It wasn't too far from then, when the game started to appear on Steam as "Sold Out" for some reason. How do you run out of copies for a game you sell digitally?! It was ridiculous! I couldn't even find it on stores anymore, and back then I didn't trust buying physical things online. Regardless, I bid my time, and waited. Perhaps it'd be "on stock" again at some point? Nope. It suddenly disappeared some time after. By the time I was able to spend a lot of money in a Steam Sale, it was not even remembered anymore in the store, and later; when they announced the new Prey, imagine my Immense Disappointment when I found out it wasn't a continuation, not even a retell or reimagining, of the scary, tragic and immensely cool adventure you had as Tommy in that horrible Sphere ship thing. It was something else entirely. I don't think there was even any reference to the original. People HAVE to be able to play this game. It's SO DAMN COOL! IDC if the name needs to be changed, call it Sphere, Tommy, The Hidden, IDK! You think of a cool name, even a lame one is ok. Just please, retrieve this Marvelous Gem from oblivion.
Those games also need your vote!
Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
