JudasIscariot: Mostly roguelikes, I like those and getting back into the action is a lot quicker after dying :P

I also like some adventure games but I am wary of streaming those as I don't want to spoil too much for people.
Could've guessed. :-))

As for adventure games, most of the plot twists and spoiler-y moments usually happen closer to the end of the game (unless it's a sequel of course, then the very beginning might "spoil" the ending of the previous game) while an average stream takes what, a couple of hours? Should be all right (and spoiler-free) in most cases.

I do like some games in other genres but not the entire genre. For example, I like Distant Worlds a lot and I wish we had it here so I could stream it and show it to people as a sort of "basic starter guide from one noob to another" as the UI and the game can be somewhat intimidating to new players at first glance. That and I would show them how to play as the Ketarov race, which is my favorite to play in the game :)

"Distant Worlds is a pausable real-time, space grand strategy wargame..."
Sounds intimidating. I'm not sure I'd even get to playing such a game. I mean, it even sounds like it's huge, and I've merely read its description. Wouldn't mind watching a stream on this one, but I have a feeling it might take quite some time to show even a small portion of the game.
Space dogs, huh? I wonder if the game has space cats as well. :-)

If you can play Crusader Kings II, you can play Distant Worlds Universe :P

I say this because for the longest time I was all thumbs when it came to CKII and then one day it just kind of "clicked" and I can at least play the game decently enough :)

Distant Worlds, with its automation, is a lot easier to get into since you can set the automated parts to ask you for your input regarding a given decision so that you have some control over your game.

The way I play DW:U is I automate everything except for the one thing I would like to learn then I play around with that one aspect until I know what to do, I repeat this process until I am familiar with the interface and then I try to GIT GUD :P

Watching a DWU "let's play" now. My lower jaw permanently rests on the table and refuses to go up on its own.
How on earth do you control something this large? "Endless Space" looks like a simple game compared to this. I mean, yeah, once you get the hang of it, it might be actually fairly simple, but right now it just seems too intimidating.

For me, it's a lot of pausing and examining everything and then unpausing :)

So that is what that stream would be like: pause, examine the situation, comment, give orders, unpause, swear at the units for carrying out the orders you gave them and not the ones you meant but forgot to give, pause. :-)
Well, the player's comments make at least half the charm of a stream or letsplay so that might be quite a sight.

In other news: sentient dogs sighted on the streets of... on some streets.

Oh, Distant Worlds is a giant sapphire among space strategies. I like to play as Kiadian for the intergalactic busido roleplay and sometimes take Zenox to feel like an old ancient galaxy watchmen. I tend to choose an insectoid race for another go, have to delve in some evil deeds :) Slitherine..It will be good day when we get some games from them in GOG catalog.

avatar

Lords of Xulima.
