Both Deus Ex games are already selling on Steam for $9.99 each, price is no obstruction to seeing them here. Besides, those aren't EA games, they are Squeenix/Eidos.

Oh I know that. Meant it will just be easier to get games like that. Such as games still popular and a little newer.

That leaves EA. You'd think that after how successful the Fallout Trilogy re-release has been, they'd be biting at the bit...yet no announcement so far. I never got to play these games, and they won't work on newer systems, so I guess I'll just have to keep crossing my fingers.

EA is never going to dump/license the System Shock license, it's far too profitable of a series, the fan love of Bioshock is proof of that.
To be honest, I think EA has backed themselves into a corner with it. They know they have the rights to an extremely hot IP on their hands, but they are also smart enough to know that it is the one series you don't mess with with and make a half-assed sequel, since the fan base is so vocal and dedicated that any bad choices would keep the game from selling.
Look at Deus Ex: IW and the in development Deus Ex 3 for a good example of "When good IP's go bad and piss off a dedicated fan base". Also look at Project Snowblind.
Amazing that Ion Storm made Thief: Deadly Shadows as good as they did.

No, they couldn't care less about messing long-time franchise and pissing off fanbase. See: Command & Conquer 4.

It worked like that? I thought EA didnt have complete rights over System Shock, and that's why they didn't do anything with the games. Like they owned the name and such, but they didn't have distribution rights or something like that.

No, I actually loved Thief DS, and I'm playing it through again as well. Hell, I practically love it just because of the Robbing the Cradle mission alone.

I will rebute anyone who thinks Deus Ex Invisible War is a bad game or otherwise underachieves in comparison to the original Deus Ex. Both are the best (and pretty much the only) truly cyberpunk modern RPGs.
Playing them side by side is the only comparison I accept. Don't come with "Invisible War is dated", picking the graphics as proof of quality is the first mistake people make these days.
You know, I became more optimistic about Origin and similar classic companies after such major superpowers such as Activision and Atari came to GOG.
I suppose we could dream of EA games coming to GOG in a year or so if things keep improving at this pace.

I have played both games, in fact, I played IW before I played Deus Ex and I have to say in my opinion, IW is not a worthy successor. It is a good game in its own right and had it not been the sequel to one of the greatest games ever, it might hold a loftier place in the history of video games, however, about the only things that were better about IW were the graphics and to a slight degree, the voice acting (sorry, but JC was voiced by one of the most wooden actors I have ever heard). The story was severely lacking in comparison to the complexity and depth of the original game, the gameplay itself was somewhat uninspired and linear and it just didn't make me want to sit at my computer all night and keep playing like Deus Ex did. I am hopeful that the third game will redeem the series for IW, but, game developers and publishers have made a nasty habit of crushing my hopes lately.
BTW - The best cyberpunk RPGs are the System Shock games, not the Deus Ex games, they are really second best.

I have to be honest, I LOVED DEUS EX, I mean I played it over and over. Got IW the day or so after it came out and loved it. True, it doesn't have the dark, gritty story of the first one or the depth of weapon mods and AUGs. But I thought it pretty much improved on the basic game play of the series. The multiple endings, the story twists and the new handling of weapon mods/AUGs/Ammo system/Unique Weapons just drew me in. I have played the original through twice, but IW almost 5-6 times. But they are both GREAT games.
Haven't played the System Shock series, is it any good?
