darkchild130: I dont know, something just annoys me about the entire series. I just find the experience dull, which is saying something because I've played through various Final Fantasy games! Maybe its the barren wastelands and endless side quests (fallout 3 nearly drove me mad over a weekend while I forced myself to play it).
I think I enjoyed Fallout tactics because it was focused, you are a soldier, you have objectives, go do them.
Endless wandering does not make a good game imo.

If I made Fallout 3 it would probably play like Rage, lol.

Darkchild
Did you actually play 1 and 2?
3 is rubbish and Tactics is well, Tactics.
New Vegas isn't a bad choice either, but the real Fallout games are the original two.
Yes but I tend to focus on 3 as it is more fresh in my mind. I played 1 and 2 when they were first released, bought them again when the triple pack was released (thats how I discovered tactics) and tried to get into them. I just didn't find them engaging at all.

I never played Fallout 1 or 2 when they first came but I remember seeing them played and wanting them really bad. So I got them a few years ago and was never able to get into them either. I never tried number 2.

Personally, I find Fallout a bit tedious as well. When you finish it once, I believe that it offers little replay value.
The sequel on the other hand starts off slowly, but once it gets going it offers a hell of a ride all the way to the end. I find Modoc very boring and tiresome (despite it having my favourite soundtrack), but once I get past that, it's a blast!

Don't touch any The Elder Scrolls game. Ever. Even with a 10 feet pole :D
I think most of Rare's N64 titles aren't as good as people give them credit for. None of them are bad, but they're far from perfect.
Civilization 5

played through one campaign, never touched it again.

Normally I am a huge fan of empire building/4x. I loved Civ 1 - 4. Heck, I even got a lot of enjoyment out of MoO 3, but Civ 5 just sucked for me.

I was going to say Civ 5 myself, but then I think the game is more a case of 'new game that under-whelmed', than "most overrated game of all time". I took issue with it's weak non-conquest options and it's buggy/unoptimized state, personally.
Oooh, right, I totally forgot about StarCraft 2! It might NOT be overrated for it's a mighty fine tournament game, but Blizzard has disappointed me so much by it's SP campaign and I simply don't give a rat's ass about MP.

I didn't know anyone cared about Starcraft singleplayer, to be honest. I thought it was mostly a multiplayer game to begin with.

Not that I'm a big RTS expert -___- (I've played maybe...1? Age of Empires II. Yea baby)

The Starcraft I single player game was actually pretty good, there was a mix of levels and it had a basic plot.

But, the thing is that the multiplayer was a lot better in some ways, you could get a half dozen or so people into the same room and plug into the same NIC and have a proper LAN party, with SC2 you can't really do that as there's no advantage, you have to connect with a server and being in the same room gives no improvement in latency.
Some of the post here reminds me of the time G.W. Bush was around...
The era of if you are not with me then you are against me returns with the vengeance...

I am not much for grammar but the meaning seems to be clear...
"Most Overrated Game of All Time"
I agree that many titles you have listed here were over-hyped and over-rated and I can certainly add a list of my own... but they are hardly "most overrated..."

Alrighty then:

Most overrated = Halo. A game this bland and "merely good" has no business taking the gaming industry by storm. I don't care if it did revitalize the console FPS.

The point is I actually agree with a lot of posts here listing a lot of over-rated and/or over-hyped games...
Be that Halo 3, Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 2, Modern Warfare X, Old Republic and so forth (to name few and not all of them)... which does not mean they are bad (over-rated does not automatically mean bad).

But I think some people lost the understanding of scale and concept as well as definition of "most". This reminds me of a review on metacritic.com giving Batman Arkham City 0 out of 10 (personally I happen to think that Batman Arham City is an excellent game if you are into that kind of thing)... but what I mean is that if you adopt that kind of scale, then vast majority of games would end up with high negative rating would they not? Because they are VASTLY worst/inferior to Arkham City...

So to simply put it, I think people should try to maintain sense of perspective before making a post rather than make a post because they dislike/hate a particular game...

Somebody really gave that a 0? I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but I have a hard time that they could fall that far having relatively recently released Batman:AA
