Wait, so people are upset about this?
We get cool games published on here, and a strong possibility of EA and LA showing up within the next coming weeks, and you whine more? The internet is full of unappreciative whiny baby-men. I thought this place was different, way to prove me wrong.

$80 is quite a bit even in the US for most of us, but we don't have to pay for the extra costs associated with shipping and customs.

I tried to pick up a copy of Dungeon Keeper and had similar trouble, cheapest listed was $30 and the only copies that were actually in stock were similar to Monkey Island.

I didn't dismiss them, like I said, it was a toss up (literally, I tossed a coin to see which I would pick). I honestly think Take2 and Squeenix have an equal chance of being here.

Given the number of titles talked about, EA seems really obvious and given the number of times the GOG guys have said they want and are actively trying to get LA (usually immediately before or after they tell us how hard it is), I'm hopeful that they have finally worn LA down. I think we can all agree that they just put MS in the presentation slide to balance it (5 publishers already in, 5 publishers they want), but there is no real hope of ever seeing them here.

Classic games unfortunately have been targeted by collectors. I have heard some buy the games and shrink wrap them or worse re-sell on e-bay for even more. Especially the games in the old big cardboard boxes, they are fetching quite a bit.

I've been collecting/re-purchasing a lot of classics and sometimes they are expensive and sometimes not. Popularity matters, as does how fast the seller wants to be rid of them. You can put Fallout up on ebay for $150 buy it now, but that doesn't someone will actually pay that (though Fallout is the box I paid the most for to get complete, $90).

The worst thing is availability. Some games you search amazon and ebay for and they just aren't there, period, so you have to wait and hope you get lucky.

Agreed, polpularity plays a big role, but also rarity. I don't know if you remember "The Neverhood" or "I have no mouth and I must scream", but I've noticed they fetch quite a bit, especially the latter.

And to keep to the thread, that is the main reason I am hoping for LA to come to GOG, so that we can afford classic games again.

My best friend had a copy of Neverhood, I wonder if he's still got it. Great game, unfortunate that it sold so poorly. Definitely one that should be here.

It was a Dreamworks project that was apparently given the green light by Spielberg. I think that the odds of getting it are likely to go up drastically if we get Lucas Arts. Given the relationship that Lucas and Spielberg have, although I'm not sure if it would work like that.

If only I knew back then. I played this game in the 90's, my friend actually had the original. I asked him the other if he still had it and he said he couldn't remember what he did with it. Truly great and innovative game.

recently LA has done some hiring, if I remember correctly one of them was into a management position ... this could be a "turnaround" signal from LA.

honestly the idea that it's EA+ LA isn't too far fetched, EA is probably looking for a way to promote TOR but for how old the titles are at this point re-releasing the KTOR games anywhere else besides GOG would be meaningless. If EA wants this to happen that would also effect LA's standpoint on things.

EA also made recent comments about how Digital Download is what they expect to dominate their future profits, milking some extra money out of their vast catalog of great games that they have locked away may just be part of that too.

Take 2 just doesn't have that many games worth being put up on GoG, maybe some of the older GTA would work, but the rest of them are either still hot IP's or sports games.

SE however is a much more likely candidate, 90% of the old EIDOS stuff would sell like hotcakes and seeing as how SE didn't pay a dime towards their production I can't really see them being all that emotionally invested in unlocking the DRM on 'em.

Microsoft was them making a blatant job about how little M$ is invested in PC games.
