Just a quick thought. I sincerely hope that some of the GOG team have read this thread, I mean 14 pages and going strong.....

ovoon: Wait, so people are upset about this?

TheJoe: I'm still laughing!
...this is one of those manic laughs, isn't it?

well they did reference the speculative threads in their summary of the conference, so I'd say they probably haven't read all 279 posts, but got the gist of it. That said, I think they might just be already aware that LA and EA would be huge gets. :)

Can you imagine the amount of downloading that would be going on if they got either one of those publishers. I wonder if there servers would cope :-)

Yeah the Witcher 2 release should be interesting in that regard as well - probably why they did a server test a few weeks ago and are introducing a new downloader. EA or LA would generate quite a bit of traffic on the servers, though thankfully they only release a couple games a week. Even so there would be a lot of instant buys and downloads. Personally I would prefer LA, but my money is on EA this summer over LA or any of the others. When described originally it was a HUGE publisher coming to GOG and well just in terms of size and content, that's pretty apt for EA. LA is very big (in terms of back catalogue), the others are big, but EA? Huge.

If this happens I will be looking forward to a few great 95-98 games, Episode 1 Racer, Rogue Squadron, Phantom Menace to name a few.

Ahhh! Necromanced zombie thread! Run for your lives!
And here I thought TheJoe was trollin', making another thread...
I'd really love to see a fully Vista compatible and DRM-free version of KotOR. I never got the chance to play it because of compatibility issues. :(

I know it's unlikely to happen, but this looks like a thread for reveries. ;)

Necromancy has been maxed out!

You learned Night of the Living Bump!
You learned Advanced Necropost!
You learned Summon Oldest Topic!
You learned Pointless Message!
You learned Illiteracy
You learned Time Immunity

Night of the Living Bump:
Brings forth a Lovecraftian horror that reads your thoughts and uses them to post in a random number of relevant topics (up to ten) between two to four months of inactivity.

Advanced Necropost:
Allows posting in topics with up to two years of inactivity.

Summon Oldest Topic:
Bumps the oldest topic on the board, even if it's locked, at the cost of a permanent loss of 1/3 max health, 1/2 intelligence, 1/4th wisdom, and 20 defense.

Pointless Message:
Allows posting pointless messages (i.e. telling people from several months in the past that you would like Star Wars games if LucasArts shows up, as if there was nobody else in the world that shared the same sentiment back in April) with a reduced health loss penalty.

Illiteracy:
Allows you to post in a topic without the need to read the posts on the first or last page of a topic. Advanced Illiteracy allows you to post in a topic without needing to read the topic title. Severely impacts intelligence and wisdom by a random amount of points between 200 and 1000.

Time Immunity:
Allows you to traverse through the forums with complete ignorance of post dates, as though you were a wandering spirit trapped in a realm through which all time streams coexist. This ability is passive.

Post of the week anyone?
SInce Lucas Arts has some great games, it was worth the necro
But that's not all! At the very end, spotlight was on your favourite French Monk, who had some news regarding new publishers coming to the site. Microsoft, Electronic Arts, LucasArts, Take2 and SquareEnix - one of those publishers is already signed, while two more from the list are almost on board! Which and when is coming? Well, you'll have to wait a bit for that :)
So... Now that EA is here, who's next?
