Marcinkonys: Bah, I'm totally leaning towards "The Guild Gold Edition", since I always wanted to try out a city building game, but I'm worried I might stop playing five minutes later.
That's how it is with RTS games. I wanna try one, buy it and get owned by med AI... This is not an RTS afaik, and it looks pretty fun to play judging by the screens and all the people's opinions here, but still... Is it friendly to those new to the genre?

First off, it is NOT a city building game. It is a "medieval Sims", where you manage the fate of your dynasty.
That said, you'll probably not be owned by the AI, as they only go around doing their business. Of course, there is quite an amount of intrigue involved, but you can also get along well with others.

seanbot: I don't think you guys understand how Australian Summer works.
Basically, it gets hot, and if we don't die from dehydration, our computers overheat, so we just kind of sit down with all the windows open getting stuck to coaches.

So pretty much like a Japanese summer but with less air conditioning? And even with an air conditioner, my PC still overheats. Have to run it with the case off.
As for this deal, I finally picked up Gothic 2 and Neighbours From Hell.
I'm in a bit of a dilemma... I already have Painkiller Black Edition, which runs fine on WinXP and Win7, so I basically don't need it from here.
BUT... it has nice goodies (I really like artworks), and the one-file installer is neat, too.
Hmmm...

Yes, it is very friendly to "newbies".
The game, in my opinion, is slightly mislabeled in the GOG catalogue. It is not an RTS, just a very good life-sim game.
The game features the ability to thrash someone, spy on them for evidence for later framing, the ability to kill your rivals using toad slime, lampoon them with ridiculous limericks, etc etc. The only thing missing in the game is "the oldest profession". I really wish I knew hot mod games because I would so mod that into the game, in a tasteful manner of course.

Actually, the game has three files, if you download via browser. Not sure how it goes via the downloader since I don't use the downloader myself.

I do use the downloader, and even if it comes down as three files (it did with SpellForce, which my brother bought), it's easier than installing from a disc.

JudasIscariot: Depends on your net connection. Took me a week or so to get all the files, either life happened or something interrupted the dang download. I would have killed for the disc version :D. I am on a DSL connection.

But once I have the digital version, I can burn it to a disc to have a backup. Then, I have a semi-disc verion :-).
Anyway, I still need to convince myself some more in order to get it.

True...
Well, in my oh-so-humble opinion, the game is good enough to get it twice :D.

Indeed... So I'll just prolly pick it up while it's on sale ;-).
