zeogold: I...don't really think those count. Pancakes/waffles are sweet foods, typically consumed at breakfast. Pitas are more a type of savory bread used in sandwiches n' whatnot.
What were you saying about you don't think savory doesn't count?...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cr%C3%AApe#Types_and_special_cr.C3.AApes
"Crêpes are usually of two types: sweet crêpes (crêpes sucrées) made with wheat flour and slightly sweetened; and savoury galettes (crêpes salées) made with buckwheat flour and unsweetened. The name "galette" came from the French word galet ("pebble"), since the first gallettes were made on a large pebble heated in a fire. Batter made from buckwheat flour is gluten-free, which makes it possible for people who have a gluten allergy or intolerance to eat this type of crêpe."

Boom.

zeogold: Boom.
So basically you're ignoring the second of the two types:

Yup.

If you can't put syrup and/or fruit on it, it don't count.

zeogold: Yup.
You're retroactively changing it, not unlike your edited posts...

Nonsense.
I have no idea what you're talking about.
Completely ridiculous notion.
Utter tomfoolery.

But seriously though, I DID have breakfast foods in mind, and I've never really heard of anybody eating a pita for breakfast.

I love waffles! First off they are, technically speaking, fried breakfast food. More so, their unique waffle pattern gives them a much larger surface area than any pancake or crepe. Since it is the crunchy exterior that makes them great this puts waffles way ahead of those other foods. If made properly, waffles have more exterior surface than interior fluff. People think It's weird, but for as much as I love waffles I can't stand pancakes. I find them flat and flavorless.

I also offer for consideration one more dish, like waffles they are sweet, fried and can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner and any meal in-between: The Monte Cristo Sandwich. I make mine with ham, turkey and swiss cheese. They go on the bread that has been soaked in a mixture of buttermilk and egg. Once assembled the sandwich gets fried to a golden brown. It is served with butter, powdered sugar and strawberry jam.

Over here, I'd go with waffles.

Fairfox: I don't just go around eating French toast randomly, thanks.
Why not? You're an American, aren't you?

Huh, that's something I've never heard of before. I'l have to try it. Thanks for the recommendation.

Cheese blintzes with a big glob of sour cream and fresh strawberries on top.

If that's not available, a waffle with lots of real butter and real maple syrup.
I choose waffles. Growing up, I always liked pouring syrup over each square. I especially like them served with chicken.
1. start with a pancake (german pancake)
2. add a layer of syrup
3. cover syrup with waffles
4. add a layer of honey
5. close it with a 2nd pancake
6. gain weight from just looking at it ;)

edit
A variant to consider: two layers of waffles instead of one and between them a layer of American pancakes :D

Crepes with maple syrup and cinnamon sugar.

zeogold: Let's settle it once and for all!
Which is better:
Pancakes, or waffles?
Maybe crepes?
French toast, perhaps?
Something else entirely???

The most compelling argument gets marked as the answer and officially ends the war so we can all go home and have breakfast.
