Emob78: Haven't seen it. Just gonna take out the old crystal ball and do some predictions.

Strong female lead?
Wise all-powerful black or Asian jedi/leader who dispenses great knowledge about... something.
Death Star 7.1.
Traditional John Williams Star Wars tunes that tries to evoke emotion and energy that died out 25 years ago.
Fast smash cuts used in order to keep boredom from setting in with the 7-21 demographic.
Oh, and big explosion, title appearance... release date... fade out...

How'd I do?

Breja: Still not nearly as predictable as your "did not see, know it sukz" trolling. You need a new thing to troll about. Maybe something about fashion? Or food? I don't know, something.
Why? You keep getting pissed and talking about it. Seems my proton torpedo has found the exhaust port on your death star.
Rofl the movie the room was better than the prequals.

At least I got you to admit you're just a pathetic troll :)
Mr. Sunday Movies did a trailer breakdown for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_WLZ0KMBHg. His videos are always fun.

The biggest easter egg he pointed out, that I hadn't noticed, is that Rogue One is a prequel. That's right, face it! Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

That's hardly an easter egg. It's the basis of the movie's premise and a well known fact.

Oh. Oooh. Sorry. Yeah. I've been hanging out with tinyE too much around here. In my defence, it's not like there isn't plenty of people who could say something like that seriously. I've known people who thought Batman Begins was a prequel to Burton's Batman. And most of my friends to this day can't wrap their heads around which superhero movies share a universe, and which don't.

I understand, that's part of the joke too. Lots of people right here on this discussion talking about "the prequels", it's such a charged term at this point, it feels wrong to think about Rogue One as being a "Star Wars Prequel", even though it technically is one.

Whenever someone says "the prequels", whatever the topic is, I think everyone always thinks of Episodes I,II and III, even if the discussion was actually about something else entirely, some series of novels or anything. For better or worse that trilogy will always be THE prequels. It's almost like the term did not exist untill those movies, and was coined just for them.
Pretty good trailer but that imperial alarm played over and over like music was grating. Though quite a few people in the comments section seem to be despairing about another female lead, I don't care who the protagonist is as long as they can act out the story. Hopefully this marks the new films finding their own feet instead of leaning on references to old ones.

Agreed. I get what they were going for, I think, trying to give it a sense of urgency, but it doesn't exactly make me want to watch it over and over, like some really good trailers do.

I really don't get why would anyone care one way or the other about the main character's gender. The important thing is whether she can carry the movie. That's a big unknown, but she made a much better impression on me here then Blandy Whatsherface as Rey.

That's probably the best thing about this teaser- except for the "nostalgic piano" as someone nicely called it, it's not as forcibly nostalgic as the trailer for Force Awakens were. And there isn't really a Star Wars movie like this to rip-off, so unless they outsourced their plagiarising, this will have to be something of it's own.

Unless it turns out they steal the plans in the first five minutes and hide them in a droid just as the Empire attacks them on/above some desert planet...

The dialogue from the original trilogy indicates that they send the message to Leia so I'm hoping they all die in the end. Not because I like downer endings but it's what makes sense to me with the current canon. Otherwise you have a team of super dedicated rebel agents willing to fight and die to stop the empire, then promptly decide not to do that for *reasons* and run off god knows where to explain why they are never seen or referenced in the movies that already go through that time period.

DaCostaBR: Disappointing trailer. It had way too much of that girl either running, or just standing around. This was supposed to be a heist movie, so I expected an ensemble piece, like Ocean's Eleven in space, but we saw almost nothing of the team she's working with. Just a few shots of Diego Luna also just standing around, and a couple of seconds of Donnie Yen fighting.

Still looking forward to the movie though, always wanted a Star Wars movie with no jedis in it.
i sure would like to see a star wars movie based on rogue squadron or the dark forces games. they can't be as bad as the wing commander movie right?

I've actually been thinking about the very same thing, but in context of the Rebels series and this movie. Between the show entering it's third season, and this movie being set before Episode IV, the gap between the show and the movies is getting very narrow, and the shows cast absence in this movie is going to particularly hard to explain with anything other than that they all died.
Well, SW7 was so bad that it is really hard to go lower than that, so this one seems clearly better and hopefully will wash away that very bad taste left after sw7.
The cast is way better than the joke the sw7 cast was (except h.ford).
Another director so there's "a new hope" we'll finally have a decent star wars movie.
