So, I've finally seen it. Spoilers follow.

I liked it. A lot. I didn't love it like I loved Man of Steele (as I said before, that is in my top 5 superhero movies ever), but I still liked it. That the action scenes are fantastic is I think no surprise to anyone. Whether it's the car chase, the Batman vs Superman battle or the final fight with Doomsday, it's all great stuff. The cast, mostly, did a great job. Affleck's Bruce/Batman is superb, Gal Gadot proved herself as Wonder Woman (I loved her brief "now this is fun" smile while fighting Doomsday), Cavill and Amy Adams were obviously fine returning to the roles.

Luthor was the big problem. I liked the way he planned things. The way he played everyone. What he did was written well. How he did was the problem. The almost Jim Carrey-like performance was entirely wrong, Eisenberg was miscast, and the direction that was decided on for his role was a mistake. There is no way around it.

I liked the way the fight with Superman was handled- Batman wins, but only because of preparation, and because Superman wasn't really trying to take him out, and I liked how in the end it's the name Martha, the thought of his mother, and Superman's mother that makes him look at what he's doing, and what he has become. The older, damaged, somewhat lost Batman was the right decision, the only way a story like this could have worked I think, and I liked how in the end Superman actually made Batman a better man, one with a mission to get the super humans together. By the end, in my opinion, the movie actually earned the "Death of Superman" moment, despite this being only the second movie.

The only other problem I can think of is Batman's wanton destruction during the car chase and the "air attack", when he basically blasts everyone to kingdom come with bat-plane's machine guns. But let's face it- we've let Tim Burton get away with Batman killing, and barely even complained. It would be hypocritical to now cry "BETRAYAL!".

Now, before anyone goes apeshit- yes, there are leaps of logic and problems with the story here an there. I just don't think those are any more of an issue in almost any such blockbuster. There is a couple of things that I think might have been explained better, but at least the way I see it, it all works well enough for me to maintain my suspension of disbelief.

Final thoughts- I have no idea why this is so hated by the critics, when shit like Age of Ultron or Thor Dark World gets a passing grade. I really can't explain it with anything other than anti-DC bias. I hope the box office keeps being good, and the future DC movies will go ahead as planned.
