Won't compare it to FEAR much, cause it feels like it's kinda different game. Played only less than hour on the day it came out - here's my super interresting thoughts: Pros: Action, it's brutal, quick, no boring intros etc. You can carry 2 guns = super OK, cause you will probably change them anyway every 10 minutes. (You don't need to carry 6 machine guns and RPG in your pocket) It's dark and exciting and lively. Cons: When you play on Rage Mode (the hardest one), you get 2-3 shots and you're done. When you are close enough you can only get 1 shot (♫♪♫♪) and be Pepsi. Which is SUPER fine and I like it - but the enemies still need to get more hits than you to die, which pisses me off for decades in games. If it was "You get 1 - I get 1" it would be super. HUGE CONS: You cannot set sprint on "toggle". So you have to hold it - which is idiotic if you need to use 2 more buttons for moving, another button for doing slide (Lctlr / LAlt or what you set), another button for these specials like invisibility or SlowMo when you're in action - which you're constantly. SO you have all 4 fingers occupied all the time + thumbing "Space" all the time = your hand hurts after 10 minutes of playing. If sprint would be like "hit the button and just run till you stop", I'd be happy. Minor - even smaller- cons: The game engine - moving around, environment reactions, interactions and melee etc. - feels like in a game from year 2008 / 2010. Not compaining, just saying. Even the smalles con: Graphics are sometimes weird and blurry. And textures are sometimes odd - expecially in Air-vents. Wrapping it up - IT IS AWESOME GAME. Giving it 10/10, cause it is fun, action and brutal = that is what it is supposed to be = it serves its purpose. Screw "cons", they don't affect the actual gameplay, so... 10/10

So first off, this is not FEAR however much people keep parroting it. This started off as a mod and it stayed a mod, only now it has a publisher and price tag, My gripes with the game are a campaign that was clearly tacked on with your base of operations completely empty of any living person with various interactions with some objects like a situation room to pick your next mission. This jut pads the game length and could be just a menu, The gun play is ok-ish at best. The spread on your weapons is horrible on any weapon I used and forces you to go close combat, but even then the spread is a major problem. other annoyances include head shots that are turned into a procedure here because your first shot will pop the helmet of your opponent and the second will deal damage which combined with the spread results in horribly frustrating gameplay. Side missions are complete filler, after the first mission I got two optional missions that were identical hack the server while enemies spam you until you hack 3 stations. Boring and tedious. There are also issues with presentation with enemies rag dolling and flying all over the place, staying in place after a couple of shots with you not knowing if they are dead or not. The menus look amateurish because how they are stretched out. With the FEAR series being really cheap and with multiple titles I see no reason to buy this as it is still a mod, only it costs as the whole FEAR series, Not worth it.

As much as I like fast action firefights I also like stealth in my games. Unfortunately Trepang 2 doesn't do a good job at it. Weapons have suppressors but when hitting enemy to the head, first thing that happens is helmet to falling off... once that is done it's back to gun blazing. Gun lasers which will alert enemies, claustrophobic locations and A.I that will smoke you away from cover / stealth ( flares, grenades etc. ) makes stealth an afterthought or just a gunfight starter. However If I can only carry two guns, then I will only carry the most powerful / accurate ones. That means silenced pistols or smg's often don't get used. Luckily the game makes up for it with bullet time, cloaking ( if you plan to avoid some enemies for a brief moment to heal or reload... or just pass by to the next room ), flashy slide mechanic and funny ragdoll physics. Overall fun experience but the stealth and lack of manual aiming ( only hip fire crossair in 2023 lol ) takes this game a star lower. 4/5

The game is a good shooter like the first F.E.A.R. But the Gog version is not complete. Season pass and survival DLC are missing. And the base game is not up to date.
