How do you access the menus for inventory, save game, settings, etc in Zork Nemesis? I've tried just about everything.

Running Windows 7 64 bit, SP1.
Since GOG offers the DOS-Version, there's no extra drop down menu. You just have to use the keyboard to access the menu. It's also listed in the manual:

? (or /) = On-screen hints

Ctrl + S = Save
Ctrl + R = Restore
Ctrl + Q = Quit
Ctrl + P = Prefs

Spacebar = Allows you to skip the movies
I kind of wish they offered both versions. It's a pity that the Windows one is somewhat better. GOG prefers DOS versions because they can easily get them running in DOSBox which is pretty much guaranteed to continue working on Windows 7 and future versions of Windows, as well as all the other OSes like Linux.

Unfortunately as far as I can tell, the Windows version (which I played back in the day) has a couple of improvements over the DOS version: better menus and a few better effects. I believe the 3D sound effects are only in the Windows version.

Still, the Windows version has a problem on modern machines: the scrolling is way too fast. Well, it will be interesting to see how GOG solves this problem for Zork Grand Inquisitor, which has no DOS version.
I also remember better sound effects (i.e. in the crystal cavern in the conservatory) and some additional animations, but the DOS-Version is still pretty impressive. Perhaps GOG will offer the Windows-Version, if they find a suitable solution for Grand Inquisitor?

Nevertheless I don't want to be ungrateful. I'm so happy to replay Nemesis, the Windows-Version would just be the cherry on the cake...
Hmm, so the differences between the DOS and Windows versions of Zork Nemesis are:
-there is no official subtitle patch for the DOS version.
-saving and loading has to be done via key-combinations instead of an animated dropdown menu in the DOS version
-sound mixing is better in the Windows Version (3D sound)

I didn't notice any missing animations so far, can anyone give an example?
