Hey guys, Zork was one of my childhood-games and although my english is quite good regarding listening and reading I do want to enjoy this game in my native language like back when I was a child. Do you guys know where to get different audio files? The german ones, to be specific.

At my parent's house there should still be the retail version (in order to extract the audio files if that's even possible). But I won't be there until next weekend.

Afaik there's no legal download of language files. But there's indeed a good chance to use the files from your original version. Just make sure they're named exactly like GOG's version. I don't know if part of the localization is stored in the game's executable. If so, you can't toggle this part, but it should be possible to swap the files containing the ingame videos.

I've managed to copy the German audio files (from Zork Nemesis, too) into the GOG installation. Now everything's translated, text, speech, graphical text within the game world.

Is it legal to upload only those files for those who want to have the GOG version in German?

Just in case someone that used to post here or have the solution is still alive ^^ ... I have the same issue (with French rather than German), does someone know how to replace those audio / video files in case I got my original nativ e language on a CD ?

I searched a little bit but was not able to find which files contains audio or video ...

Never mind I should have search a few minutes more before posting, I find how to do it and even the in-game text are translated :).

I don't know if it's even legal to talk about this game customization so I won't post here the procedure unless a GOG crew member allow me.

Of course it is legal to advice for the procedure to port those files. Please do it. I have the original spanish version and you will easy my life just doing so.

On CD1 you have a "ZASSETS1" folder
On CD2 you have a "ZASSETS2" folder

In the Zork installation folder I got from GOG, I renamed the ZASSETS1 and ZASSETS2 folders to ZASSETS1_EN and ZASSETS2_EN (backup copy) and just past the full "ZASSETS1" and "ZASSETS2" folders from my CDs ... nothing more, then the game (videos, sounds and in-game texts) where in my native language.
