HenryCrun: My Nortons Security detected Trijan.Gen.SMH.2 in anet2.dll in Zork Grand Inquistor on installation. This was frm the Windows setup file I got from the GOG downloader file.
Anybody else who has downloaded ZGI treat it like herpes till GOG get their act together.
Darvond: Hey, guess what?
Norton is
terrible! What you've got there is a bonafide false positive! With so many fans of Zork, don't you think there'd be more complaints if GOG somehow included a virus with their game? :V
I'm generally a skeptical guy, however I did dig into why Nortons flagged this anet2.dll and it appears to have been used quite a bit to have virus trojans attached to it so when activated by the game the virus does it's thing. That's not to say that the dll itself is the problem but what can be hidden in it. Nortons has some good information online about this method of infection along with a host of results from Google search.
The point I'm getting at is hope for the best and prepare for the worst. ANYTHING you download run it through a virus and malware checker.
I stand by my original post. P.S. after Nortons fixed the problem ZGI is now clean and runs fine.
