I havent played this styled text adventure in a long time.. I think part of what is giving me some issues, is lack of knowing what all the commands are.

anyone got a list some place?

I know, Look, get, take, drop, unlock, go, climb, break, eat, drink.. Not sure what else though. Perhaps a few im missing might help me along.

I only know Andrew Plotkin's reference card which can be found at http://eblong.com/zarf/if.html.

If you check the game's folder you aill find a manual there with a list of most of commands you can use.

In game type the word "verbose" without parentheses and it will bring up a full list of commands

..I thought the "verbose" command applied to descriptions of the area around you, every time you enter an area you continue to get a full description rather than the shortened one..?

Either way, don't be afraid to experiment. Just because a word isn't listed doesn't necessarily mean that you can't use it. Think about what you want to do, then if one word doesn't work, try another.

If "move rug" doesn't work, you could try "pull rug" "lift rug" "take rug" "push rug" "look under rug"...
