no matter how much i like this game, i have a question for the developpers:
WHY on hell does ziggurat executable ever tries to get super privileges on my system by asking "backup privilege" ?
i mean the system's internal "backup account" user is a rather critical feature that is not to be used lightly... the backup system user account is for making saves of profiles/system files unattended through admin scripts so it does its job even when no user is logged on (like "outside of office opening hours" for exemple)
it is one of the few internal system user account, along with nt authority and such, which can execute scheduled tasks and scripts at a level of privilege ABOVE the local administrator/owner (means "me" in that case)
since at least windows 7*, game developpers has dedicated system folders with enough rights granted on them to work with their stuff:
my documents/my games
$userprofile=/saved games
and
$appdata$
* (and even before, for some of those)
Question: so please, anyone from milkstone studio, can you provide me with a decent explanation about how and why your game would REQUIRE privileges superior to "local admin" on my computer ?
also, it doesnt seem to "require" it at all, it just takes it without asking unless something actively prevents it, like a strong IDS... because if i slap ziggurat's exe in the face and deny it such privilege elevation, the game seems to still work fine...
Aside from that it's a really great game and i never stop promoting it around whenever i can, but this little dark spot tempers my enthousiasm now
