Great... I decided to buy it and am encountering a very strange bug that is preventing me from playing it.

When I'm in the menu and try to do whatever, like changing any options, I only got a few seconds time until the escape-key or "back" button for the mouse stops working. It's running and the camera is moving, the button shows the animation but nothing happens. All I can do at this point is ALT+F4 since I don't get out of the current menu.
The intro is unskippable for some reason so I had to let it run over and over again to test the bug.
Using the Linux version here on Mint 17.

Ganni1987 has written a small fix that at least did let me play the first floor (nothing more though).

Same here on Kubuntu 14.04 64 Bit. I got to the settings once – but not back again. Since then (and after several restarts), none of the buttons in the main menu does anything although they do animate and make a sound when clicked. Starting the game from the terminal console only gives these messages:

Running Ziggurat
Set current directory to /home/user/Games/Ziggurat/game
Found path: /home/user/Games/Ziggurat/game/Ziggurat.x86_64
Mono path[0] = '/home/user/Games/Ziggurat/game/Ziggurat_Data/Managed'

The intro can't be skipped either. I tried every keyboard and mouse key.

Sad to see another half-hearted Linux port with such obvious and game-breaking bugs. Until this is fixed, I will not encourage other Linux users to buy this game. :(

Okay, with SDL2 installed the menu bug went away, BUT this is still an issue that needs to be fixed by GOG or Milkstone. On Linux, that's what dependencies are for. If they provided a .deb package with SDL2 as dependency, it would be installed with the game.

That said, at least on all *buntus (maybe Mint too), SDL2 is only one console command away:

sudo apt-get install libsdl2-2.0-0

No need for downloading libraries from untrusted Google drives (no offense to Ganni1987, but on Linux, one should prefer signed packages from the official Linux repositories whenever possible).

Being the optimist who I am, I just filed a request to provide a downloadable deb package with the right dependency and a user solution in form of the apt-get command for the game's FAQ. :)
