Can someone say something about the save game system? And are the controls with mouse/keyboard good?

I tried Psychonauts 1 (mouse control is horrible) and Beyond Good and Evil (save game system is horrible) a few days ago, and they were really bad console ports, so I am hesitating.

I heard good things about the Yakuza series, and I am very interested.

I've never had any trouble saving in these games. I'm not entirely sure what you are worried about in regards to saving, but you can make as many saves as you want and you are free to rotate your saves.

As for the keyboard controls, there's going to be a message when you boot it up that says something like "Real yakuza use a controller!". These games absolutely weren't meant to be played with mouse&keyboard. But the good news is that they all feature controller support.

That's indeed helpful, thank you very much!

Regarding the save system: Beyond Good and Evil scarred me. I was playing for about an hour, there was no save option in the menu so I assumed it must have auto save, like many console games. I had to stop playing, and when I booted it up the next day I had to start from the beginning! With unskippable cutscenes. A mistake I won't make again before purchasing a game. My time is too precious to waste it for that.

Again, thanks for the info!
The following is based on my experiences with the Steam releases.

The Yakuza games use different save schemes, probably due in part to the differences in relase time and console generations. In most of the games you can only save in (rather ubiquitous) telephone booths while a couple of the newer ones like Yakuza 6 and Kiwami 2 have auto-save and save anywhere features (iirc). Telephones are marked on your map and there are rare sequences in the games where saving is only possible after a number of fights have been completed.

I played all of the Yakuza games exclusively with keyboard and mouse, and - one chase sequence aside - had no strong negative or positive feelings on the controls. It's perfectly doable, over all.

Most of the games have easily skippable cutscenes and text that can be sped up, iirc.
