Hi,

the crouch key works permanent, i.e. pressing crouch and the player goes into permanent crouch state. Unfortunately that's a real deal breaker for me as I just can enjoy a game forcing this, as I'm too used to have it the other way.

Is there any trick to make crouch not toggle the crouch-state, just crouching as long as I press the crouch key?

thanks

I can't answer your question, but hopefully you don't mind answering one of mine. Why is it a deal breaker? I'm mostly curious because its the other way around for me, and I can't honestly see how anyone could play a game without toggle crouch, especially on a game oriented around crouching a significant amount of time.

I have to agree with you on this, I often want a toggle crouch so that I don't have to hold down a button if I want to move around a lot whilst staying crouched.

That said, though, I do like the option of having a non-toggle crouch for short crouches, or crouch-jumping techniques, so I often try to map two buttons, one for toggle crouch, one for non-toggle crouch.

Uh, good question, well ... I guess I'm just so used to it :-/ I guess I've been playing fast paced games to much and, although I use crouching for sneaking at someone, usually I use it as a quick key to duck. E.g. duck bullets, an attack, so I expect it to be quickly up move at normal speed away.

I've the same problem with all the recent Battlefield-Titles I played (err, tried). You can't strafe while you run forward. People argue about it whether is realistic or not, I cannot even say that, it's just that I'm so used to move my character when I want the way I want that I feel really limited to the point it's unplayable when I can't do this.

Sounds weird? :) But hey, nice, thanks for asking anyway.
